The Charlotte 49ers track and field team is the track and field program that represents University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The 49ers compete in NCAA Division I as a member of the American Athletic Conference. The team is based in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center/Transamerica Field. [2]
The program is coached by Bob Olesen and Joseph Lynn (distance). [2] The track and field program officially encompasses four teams, as the NCAA regards men's and women's indoor track and field and outdoor track and field as separate sports. [3]
Several 49ers attempted to make the Olympic team at the 2024 United States Olympic trials. [4] Former 49ers athlete Abraham Morlu represented Liberia in the 2000 Olympic 4 × 100 m. [5]
A total of 6 men and 8 women have achieved All-American status at the men's outdoor, women's outdoor, men's indoor, or women's indoor national championships. [6] [7]

The NCAA Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship refers to one of three annual collegiate indoor track and field competitions for women organised by the National Collegiate Athletic Association for athletes from institutions that make up its three divisions: NCAA Division I, II, and III. In each event athlete's individual performances earn points for their institution and the team with the most points receives the NCAA team title in track and field.
Randolph Duane Ross is an American collegiate track and field coach, and former athlete, specializing in the 110 meters hurdles. He is currently the Director of Track and Field programs for the University of Tennessee and is best known for winning the bronze medal at the 1999 World Championships in Athletics and representing the United States at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Ross also won the 1995 NCAA championship in the 110-meter hurdles, and as a 7-time All-American and 5 Time ACC champion is Clemson University's most decorated male hurdler.

Michael Dwayne Holloway is an American college track and field coach. Holloway is the current head coach of the Florida Gators track and field and Gators cross country programs of the University of Florida. He is best known for leading the Florida Gators men's indoor track and field team to five National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I national championships in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2018, and 2019. Additionally, the Florida Gators men's outdoor track and field teams won the NCAA Division I national championship in 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2022, 2023, and 2024 under Holloway's leadership. In 2022, he led the women's indoor track and field team to its second national title and first in 30 years. Also in 2022, Holloway's Gators won a double NCAA title team slam, winning the 2022 men's outdoor track and field NCAA championship as well as the 2022 women's outdoor track and field NCAA championship, the first in program history.
