"Brimful of Asha" is a single by British alternative rock band Cornershop from their third album When I Was Born for the 7th Time. The recording originally reached number 60 on the UK Singles Chart in 1997. After a remixed version by Norman Cook became a radio and critical success, the song was re-released and reached number one on the UK chart and number 16 on the US Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. The lyric is a tribute to Asha Bhosle.
"No One Knows" is a song by American rock band Queens of the Stone Age written by band members Josh Homme and Mark Lanegan. It was the first single and second track from their third album, Songs for the Deaf, and was released on November 26, 2002. "No One Knows" was a chart success, becoming the band's only single to top the US Alternative charts. The song was also critically acclaimed, receiving a nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance at the 2003 Grammy Awards.
"Out of Time" is a song by Blur and was released as the lead single from their seventh album Think Tank in 2003. The song is a bass-driven track with minimal drums and acoustic guitar accompanied by eastern and orchestral flourishes. The faint gargling noises in the intro is part of a scene from Doctor Who. It reached number five in the UK Singles Chart. "Out of Time" was Blur's first release in three years and also the band's first release without guitarist Graham Coxon.
"Reptilia" is a song by indie rock band the Strokes, and was the second single from their second album, Room on Fire. In the U.S., it peaked at number 19 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. It fared better in the UK, however, where it reached number 17 on the UK Singles Chart and was certified Silver by the British Phonographic Industry. The single cover depicts an alien from the video game Centipede.
"Where It's At" is a song by American alternative rock musician Beck. It was released as the first single from his 1996 album Odelay. Beck wrote the song in 1995. He premiered it at Lollapalooza 1995, in a version very similar to its incarnation on Odelay. He has played the song very often since 1995, although he regularly experiments with the music and lyrics.
"I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" is a song by English rock band Arctic Monkeys. The song was released through Domino Recording Company as the band's first single from their debut studio album, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (2006). It debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart on 23 October 2005, and remains one of the band's best-known songs.
"Pumping on Your Stereo" is a song by Supergrass, released as their first single from their self-titled third album (1999) on 24 May 1999. In October 2011, NME placed it at No. 124 on its list "150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years".
"Maps" is a single by Yeah Yeah Yeahs from their debut full-length album, Fever to Tell (2003). The song is about the relationship between Liars frontman Angus Andrew and Yeah Yeah Yeahs lead singer Karen O. It was released 2003, and the band performed the song at that year's MTV Movie Awards. The music video received extensive play on MTV. It reached number nine on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart and was included in the popular video game Rock Band.
"Supermassive Black Hole" is a song by English rock band Muse. Written by Muse lead singer and principal songwriter Matt Bellamy, it was released as the lead single from the band's fourth studio album, Black Holes and Revelations (2006), on 19 June 2006, backed with "Crying Shame".
"Banquet" is a song from British band Bloc Party's debut album Silent Alarm. Originally released on a double A-side single along with "Staying Fat" in May 2004 by Moshi Moshi Records, it was re-released as a regular single in the United Kingdom by Wichita Recordings on 25 April 2005. It was their first single to chart on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks where it came in at number 34, and is often credited as their breakthrough single in North America. It was also featured in the song "Bloc Party" on the Fort Minor Mixtape: We Major. It was ranked No. 31 in NME's top 100 tracks of the decade, and was number 54 in Triple J's Hottest 100 of all time. It peaked at No. 13 on the UK singles chart. In 2011, NME placed it at number 20 on its list "150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years". The song was featured in the 2018/19 video game Life Is Strange 2.
"Golden Skans" is a song released by London band Klaxons on 22 January 2007, taken from their first album Myths of the Near Future, which was released on 29 January 2007. The song reached number 16 in the UK Singles Chart on download sales on 14 January and climbed to number 14 the next week, eventually reaching number seven after the CD release. It was a minor hit in Belgium, charting on the Ultratip charts of both Flanders and Wallonia. The track was also released on French label Ed Banger Records as a French-exclusive remix EP.
"Standing in the Way of Control" is a single by American indie rock band Gossip from the album of the same name. The remix by Le Tigre was released in 2005, the original was then released as a single in 2006, and was re-released again on February 26, 2007. The 2006 issue had climbed up to number 13 on the UK Singles Chart in early 2007 on download sales, but the 2007 re-release was under a new catalogue number, meaning that their six-place climb to number seven on March 4 was listed as a new entry rather than as a climber. But it reached the top spot in the UK Indie Chart for one week.
"We Need a Resolution" is a song by American singer Aaliyah. It was written by Static Major and Timbaland, who also produced and contributed a featured rap. The song was released on April 13, 2001, as the lead single for Aaliyah's self-titled 2001 album Aaliyah.
"There Goes the Fear" is the first single released from English alternative rock band Doves' second studio album, The Last Broadcast (2002). The single was released on 15 April 2002 in the UK on CD and 10-inch vinyl and charted at number three on the UK Singles Chart. Both formats were released and deleted on the same day. A single was also released for the song in the Netherlands and Australia, featuring two live B-sides. Released on 7 October 2002, it was the third single taken from the album and charted at number 13 on the UK Singles Chart. "Kids" is a song by American rock band MGMT. It was released as the third and final single from their debut studio album Oracular Spectacular (2007) on October 13, 2008. The version of the song that appears on Oracular Spectacular is updated from earlier versions that appear on the band's EPs Time to Pretend (2005) and We (Don't) Care (2004). A track entitled "Kids " appears on the album Climbing to New Lows (2005). On December 1, 2009, the track was announced as a nominee at the 52nd Grammy Awards in the category Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

"Last Nite" is a song by American rock band the Strokes. It was released on October 23, 2001, as the second single from their debut album, Is This It (2001). It was a moderate hit for the group on the UK Singles Chart in 2001.
