Chikkanna (born 22 June 1984), is an Indian actor who works in Kannada cinema and appears primarily in comic roles. [1] He made his debut in films with Kirataka (2011), following which he was recognized for his performances in Raja Huli (2013) and Adyaksha (2014). [2] Chikkanna played the lead role for the first time in the film Upadhyaksha (2024). [3]

Career

Chikkanna began his acting career in comedy shows in Mysore with Drishya Kalavide. He then appeared Comedy Kiladigalu in Zee Kannada and Prank Show aired on Udaya TV. Actor Yash noticed his performance at the diamond jubilee celebrations of Kannada cinema and cast him in the 2011 film, Kirataka . In Raja Huli (2013) and Adyaksha (2014), he played roles alongside Yash and Sharan. In the 2015 film Sharp Shooter , he played alongside Diganth and wrote the lyrics for the track "Kuntebille". [4]

Raja Huli is a 2013 Indian Kannada-language comedy-drama film directed by Guru Deshpande and written by S. R. Prabhakaran. Produced by K. Manju's home production, the film stars Yash in title role, along with Meghana Raj, Vasishta N. Simha, Charan Raj, Mithra, and Chikkanna in supporting roles. The soundtrack and score are composed by Hamsalekha. The film, which made its theatrical release on 1 November 2013, coinciding with the Kannada Rajyotsava festival became a commercial hit at the box office, becoming Yash's 3rd consecutive hit after Drama and Googly. The movie is a remake of 2012 Tamil movie Sundarapandian. The trivia is that the character named Rajahuli is played by Rangayana Raghu in Darshans film Suntaragaali (2006). The success of this movie paved the way for Yash to emerge as the top star of Sandalwood.

Guru Deshpande is an Indian film director, producer and distributor, known for his work in Kannada film industry. He is well known for Raja Huli starring Yash and Meghana Raj. In 2019, Guru Deshpande turned produced launching his banner G Cinemas and started a Film Institute under the name G Academy in Bengaluru.

<i>Bairagee</i> 2022 Indian Kannada film

Bairagee is a 2022 Indian Kannada-language action drama film directed by Vijay Milton. An adaptation of Milton's own Tamil film Kadugu, the film stars Shiva Rajkumar and Dhananjay in the lead roles, while Anjali, Pruthvi Ambaar, Sharath Lohithaswa, Shashi Kumar and Vinod Kumar Alva in supporting roles. The music was composed by Anoop Seelin, while the cinematography and editing were handled by Deepu S. Kumar and Vijay Milton.

Upadhyaksha is a 2024 Kannada-language comedy drama film directed by Anil Kumar and produced by Smitha Umapathy. It stars Chikkanna in his debut lead role. The rest of the cast includes Malaika Vasupal, P. Ravishankar, Sadhu Kokila, Veena Sundar and Dharmanna Kadur. The film is a sequel to Adyaksha (2014) starring Sharan in the lead role.
