The Brunei national football team, nicknamed Tebuan, is the national team of Brunei, controlled by the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam. The team was founded in 1959 and joined FIFA in 1969. In the past, they have also frequently featured in the Malaysian league and cup competitions as one of the state representative sides.
The Timor-Leste national football team is the national team of East Timor and is controlled by the Federação de Futebol de Timor-Leste. They joined FIFA on 12 September 2005.

A prolific striker at club level, he has also notched 10 goals in 25 caps for the Timor-Leste national football team since 2003, and is their all-time top scorer and appearance holder, both by a considerable margin. Da Silva is considered to be the best East Timorese footballer of all time. In 2011, Emilio was the highest paid athlete from East Timor, making $20,000 (USD).
The 2010 AFF Championship qualification tournament was held in Vientiane, Laos from 22 to 26 October 2010 for the five lower-ranked teams in Southeast Asia. All teams played in a round-robin tournament format with the winner and runner-up qualifying for the final tournament. However, the qualification was held without Brunei, due to FIFA's continued suspension of the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam, thus barring them from the competition. The draw for the qualifying round and competition proper took place on 15 September 2010.
