Synopsis

Set in the early twentieth century, the story revolves around the lives of Mahendra, Ashalata, Binodini and Behari. Binodini, a beautiful young widow happened to stay with a newlywed couple, Mahendra and Ashalata. The beauty and charm of Binodini soon enchants Mahendra towards her. But as time progresses, Binodini gets drawn towards Mahendra's friend, the idealist Behari. How Binodini becomes the Chokher Bali for Ashalata forms the trajectory of the story. The story, carved beautifully by Tagore, is a reflection of man-woman relationship and much more.

Chokher Bali is a 2003 Indian Bengali language drama film based on the 1903 novel Chokher Bali by Rabindranath Tagore. It was directed by Rituparno Ghosh in 2003 and stars Aishwarya Rai as Binodini and Raima Sen as Ashalata. Ashalata and Binodini refer to each other as Chokher Bali. The other major characters are played by Prosenjit Chatterjee as Mahendra, Lily Chakravarty as Rajlakshmi, the mother of Mahendra, Tota Roy Chowdhury as Behari, Mahendra's best friend, and Swastika Mukherjee in a cameo role. The film was later dubbed into Hindi and was released internationally in that language.

Chokher Bali is a 1903 Bengali novel by Rabindranath Tagore that revolves around the central character Binodini and her relationships with three individuals. It explores the extramarital affair between Binodini, a young widow, and Mahendra, an old suitor of hers, the complicated friendship with Asha, Mahendra's wife, and her mutually conflicting feelings with Behari, Mahendra's childhood best friend. The novel also highlights issues of female literacy, child marriage, patriarchy within the family, and the fate of widows during that era.

Saat Bhai Champa was an Indian Bengali fantasy television soap opera that premiered on 27 November 2017 and aired on Zee Bangla. It is produced by Surinder Films and stars Pramita Chakraborty, Rudrajit Mukherjee and Sudipta Banerjee. The show is dubbed in Hindi as "Shoorveer sister" which airs on Big Magic channel. The Odia dubbed version is aired on Zee Sarthak. It was premiered on 27 November 2017 and aired every day at 8:00 PM on Zee Bangla. It went off air on 3 March 2019 and it got replaced by Trinayani. It was premiered on 24 July 2017. The serial was earlier produced by Subrata Roy and then it was produced by Zee Bangla. It completed 1,000 episodes on its third birthday and 1,500 episodes on 26 December 2021. After a successful run of 4+12 years, Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni went off-air on 13 February 2022.

Netaji is a Bengali biographical soap opera on the life of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose that premiered on 14 January 2019 and aired on Bengali GEC Zee Bangla. Based majorly on Udyata Kharga Subhash by Achintya Kumar Sengupta and produced by Surinder Films, the series stars Abhishek Bose in the eponymous role, with Basabdatta Chatterjee, marking her comeback on television, Dhruvajyoti Sarkar, Kaushik Chakraborty, Sriparna Roy, Debopriyo Sarkar, Sohan Bandopadhyay, Fahim Mirza appearing in other recurring roles. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the shooting of the series was stalled. It was rumoured that along with Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni, this series will be axed the channel. Putting rest to such rumours, the shooting started from June 11 and new episodes started to air from June 15, 2020.The show went off air on 1 st August 2020.

Bulbbul is a 2020 Indian Hindi-language period horror film written and directed by Anvita Dutt. It was produced by Anushka Sharma and Karnesh Ssharma under Clean Slate Filmz and starred Tripti Dimri in the lead role alongside Avinash Tiwary, Paoli Dam, Rahul Bose, and Parambrata Chattopadhyay. Tripti Dimri was praised in many reviews. Set against the backdrop of the 1880s Bengal presidency, the film revolves around a child bride and her journey from innocence to strength. Prothoma Kadambini is an Indian Bengali television biographical period drama based on the biography of the first practising female physician of British-ruled India and South Asia, Doctor Kadambini Ganguly. Chokher Bali is a Bengali drama film directed by Satu Sen based on the same name novel of Rabindranath Tagore. This film was released on 30 July 1938 under the banner of Associated Producers. This is the first film adaptation of Chokher Bali.
