Cholpon Aalievna Sultanbekova (Kyrgyz :ЧолпонАалыевнаСултанбекова,Çolpon Aalıevna (Aalıqızı) Sultanbekova;born 19 August 1969) is a Kyrgyz politician and ex-member of the Supreme Council who is currently one of the country's Deputy Prime Ministers.
Sultanbekova was born on 19 August 1969 in Bishkek (then Frunze).[ citation needed ] She attended the Michurinsky Pedagogical Institute in Russia and graduated in law and international relations from the Kyrgyz State Academy of Law in 2006. [1] [2]
Sultanbekova worked at the registry office in Jalal-Abad before becoming Director General of Palvan in Osh in 1995. [1] She was President of the Congress of Women of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Southern Region from 2000 until 2001 and in 2005 she founded the NGO Eco-Harmony of Women. [1] [2]
Sultanbekova is a member of the Respublika Party of Kyrgyzstan. After her husband's assassination in 2005,she ran for his parliamentary seat representing the Kadamjay District in a 2006 by-election but was defeated. [3] [4]
Sultanbekova was elected as a member of the Jogorku Kenesh in 2010. She became a member of the Committee on Education,Science,Culture and Sport [1] and chair of the Committee of Youth Policy in 2012.[ citation needed ] In October 2013,she was elected Deputy Speaker of the parliament. [2] From 25 January 2015 until 22 January 2017,she was a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. [5]
On 9 November 2016,the parliament approved her nomination as Deputy Prime Minister for social affairs under Prime Minister Sooronbay Jeenbekov,replacing Gulmira Kudaiberdieva. [6] [7] [8]
The history of the Kyrgyz people and the land now called Kyrgyzstan goes back more than 3,000 years. Although geographically isolated by its mountainous location,it had an important role as part of the historical Silk Road trade route. Turkic nomads,who trace their ancestry to many Turkic states such as the First and Second Turkic Khaganates,have inhabited the country throughout its history. In the 13th century,Kyrgyzstan was conquered by the Mongols;subsequently it regained independence but was invaded by Kalmyks,Manchus,and Uzbeks. In 1876,it became part of the Russian Empire,remaining in the USSR as the Kirghiz Soviet Socialist Republic after the Russian Revolution. Following Mikhael Gorbachev's democratic reforms in the USSR,in 1990 pro-independence candidate Askar Akayev was elected president of the SSR. On 31 August 1991,Kyrgyzstan declared independence from Moscow,and a democratic government was subsequently established.

Roza Isakovna Otunbayeva is a Kyrgyz diplomat and politician who served as the President of Kyrgyzstan from 7 April 2010 until 1 December 2011,becoming the first female Central Asian head of state. She was sworn in on July 3,2010,after acting as interim leader following the 2010 April Revolution,which led to the ousting of President Kurmanbek Bakiyev. She previously served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and as head of the parliamentary caucus for the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan. She is also known in Kyrgyzstan for the persecution of human rights activist Azimzhan Askarov and the failed policy that led to the bloody events of June 2010.
Felix Sharshenbayevich Kulov is a Kyrgyz politician who served as the 9th Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan from 2005 to 2007,following the Tulip Revolution. He first served from 1 September 2005 until he resigned on 19 December 2006. President Kurmanbek Bakiyev reappointed him acting Prime Minister the same day,but parliamentary opposition meant Bakiyev's attempts to renominate Kulov in January 2007 were unsuccessful,and on 29 January the assembly's members approved a replacement.

Almazbek Sharshen uulu Atambayev is a Kyrgyz politician who served as the President of Kyrgyzstan from 1 December 2011 to 24 November 2017. He was Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan from 17 December 2010 to 1 December 2011,and from 29 March 2007 to 28 November 2007. He served as Chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan (SDPK) from 30 July 1999 to 23 September 2011.

Sadyr Nurgojo uulu Japarov is a Kyrgyz politician who is currently serving as the president of Kyrgyzstan since 28 January 2021. He had previously served as the acting prime minister of Kyrgyzstan in the 2020 interim government following the resignation of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov. Japarov also became acting president of Kyrgyzstan after Jeenbekov's resignation but resigned himself on 14 November 2020 to run for the 2021 presidential election,where he was elected to succeed the acting president Talant Mamytov.
Artem Eduardovich Novikov is a Kyrgyzstani politician who served as the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers from 5 May to 20 May 2021. Prior to this,he served as the First Deputy Prime Minister,as well as the acting Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan as Sadyr Japarov's official powers in office were suspended pending the results of the January 2021 presidential election.
Ulukbek Asamidinovich Maripov is a Kyrgyz politician who served as Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan from 5 May 2021 to 12 October 2021. He was the first to serve in this position,serving in this position after the post of Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan was abolished. Prior to being appointed prime minister Maripov had led the Kyrgyz Account Chamber.
The Social Democrats is a political party in Kyrgyzstan founded in late 2019 by supporters of former President Almazbek Atambayev –legal successor from the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan (SDKP). After a conflict between Atambaev and his successor President Sooronbai Jeenbekov emerged and deepened in 2018,Atambayev accused of Jeenbekov in attempting to seize authority over the SDKP,a party that Atambayev himself formed in 1990s and served as a leader of. The SDK participated in the annulled 2020 parliamentary election. The current party leader is Temirlan Sultanbekov.
