The Laois County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) or Laois GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Laois. The county board is also responsible for the Laois county teams.
Bobby Miller was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played for Laois and Timahoe. In June 2006, Miller was managing the Arles-Killeen side from Laois that included Laois county stars Beano McDonald and Donal Brennan when he became ill on the sideline shortly before half time. Medics did what they could on the pitch itself and he was then taken to Portlaoise Midland Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. He was 56 years of age.

St Mary's Knockbeg College is a Roman Catholic, all-boys secondary school located on the Laois/Carlow border in Ireland, approximately 3 km from both Carlow town and Graiguecullen, County Laois. A former seminary school for the diocese of Kildare and Leighlin, it was founded in 1793. Exclusively a boarding school until the 1980s, it now accommodates only day-pupils; the boarding school having closed down in June 2011. Knockbeg College celebrated its bicentenary in 1993.
Bryan Sheehan is an Irish Gaelic footballer with the St Mary's club in Cahirciveen, South Kerry divisional side and, formerly, the Kerry county team. He won five All-Ireland SFC medals.
Ciarán Sheehan is an Irish sportsman. Sheehan played Gaelic football and hurling with his local club Éire Óg, his divisional side Muskerry, and was a member of the Cork senior football team from 2010 until 2013. He signed a two-year contract to play Australian rules football with the Carlton Football Club in 2013, later returning to Ireland.

The championship had a back-door format for the first two rounds before proceeding to a knock-out format. Generally, any team to lose two matches will be knocked out of the championship.

Ronan Sheehan is an Irish former hurler, Gaelic footballer and politician. At club level he played with Mallow and Avondhu and was a member of the Cork senior teams as a dual player. Sheehan was also an elected representative with Cork County Council.
