Chris Prothro is an American baseball coach and former catcher, who is the former head baseball coach of the Eastern Kentucky Colonels. He played college baseball at Northwestern State, Crowder College and Arkansas State for coach Keith Kessinger from 2004 to 2005.
After his playing career ended, Prothro became an assistant baseball coach at North Iowa Area Community College, where he worked with hitters, catchers and outfielders. [1]
Following two seasons at North Iowa, he joined the coaching staff of the Nicholls State Colonels where he was on the staff of his former head coach at Crowder, Chip Durham. [1]
In July, 2015, Prothro was hired as the recruiting coordinator at South Alabama. [2]
On September 30, 2020, Prothro was named the 8th head coach in the history of Eastern Kentucky. [3]
Prothro announced on March 25, 2024, that he was taking a medical leave of absence from EKU effective immediately, with assistant coach Walt Jones serving as the acting head coach during his absence. [4] On May 15, Prothro announced he will not return to the program and that Jones was named head coach moving forward. [5]

Eastern Kentucky University is a public university in Richmond, Kentucky. It also maintains branch campuses in Corbin, Hazard, and Manchester and offers over 40 online undergraduate and graduate options.
Roy Lee Kidd was an American collegiate football league player and coach. He served as the head coach at Eastern Kentucky University from 1964 to 2002, compiling a record of 314–124–8. Kidd's Eastern Kentucky Colonels won NCAA Division I-AA Football Championships in 1979 and 1982 and were runners-up in 1980 and 1981. His 314 career victories are second-most in NCAA Division I-AA/FCS history, trailing only those of Grambling State's Eddie Robinson. Kidd was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 2003.
George Floyd Jr. is an American former professional football player who was a defensive back for two seasons with the New York Jets in the National Football League. Growing up in Brooksville, Florida, Floyd attended Hernando High School, where he was selected for The Tampa Tribune's all-area football team in all three of his varsity years. Floyd played college football for the Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) Colonels, and won the 1979 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I-AA football championship.
The Eastern Kentucky Colonels men's basketball team is a college basketball team at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU), located in Richmond, Kentucky, United States. The Colonels are members of the ASUN Conference, which they joined in 2021 after having been members of the Ohio Valley Conference since that league's founding in 1948. Home games are played at Alumni Coliseum, located on EKU's campus. The team last played in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament in 2014. The Colonels are coached by A.W. Hamilton, who came to EKU in 2018 after previous head coach Dan McHale was fired after 3 seasons.
The Eastern Kentucky Colonels are the intercollegiate athletic teams of Eastern Kentucky University (EKU), located in Richmond, Kentucky, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the NCAA Division I ranks, primarily competing in the ASUN Conference since the 2021–22 academic year. The 2014–15 Eastern Kentucky Colonels basketball team represented Eastern Kentucky University during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Colonels, led by tenth year head coach Jeff Neubauer, played their home games at McBrayer Arena within Alumni Coliseum and were members of the East Division of the Ohio Valley Conference. They finished the season 21–12, 11–5 OVC play to finish in a share for East Division championship. They lost in the semifinals of the OVC tournament to Belmont. They were invited to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they defeated Norfolk State in the first round and High Point in the second round before losing in the quarterfinals to fellow OVC member UT Martin.

Archibald William Hamilton is an American basketball coach and former player. He is the head men's basketball coach at Eastern Kentucky University, a position he has held since 2018. Hamilton served as the head basketball coach at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia, from 2011 to 2017. Born in Georgetown, Kentucky, he played college basketball for Wake Forest and Marshall, where he graduated in 2005.

George N. Hembree was an American football, basketball and baseball coach. He served as the head football coach at Eastern Kentucky University from 1920 to 1929 He also served as EKU's head men's basketball coach and baseball coach, in addition to being a faculty member. A major in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, Hembree died after being hit by a truck in May 1945.

They were led by Walt Wells in his third season, and played their home games at Roy Kidd Stadium. On August 28, Wells had a cardiac episode. The following day, Garry McPeek was named the acting head coach.
