Edward Akufo-Addo was a Ghanaian politician and lawyer. He was a member of the "Big Six" leaders of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) and one of the founding fathers of Ghana who engaged in the fight for Ghana's independence. He became the Chief Justice (1966–70),and later ceremonial President (1970–72),of the Republic of Ghana. He was the father of the current (executive) President of Ghana,Nana Addo Akufo-Addo. Edward Akufo-Addo being a trained lawyer helped him to play his role well in Ghana's Independence. He use his profession to contribute in building the nation. He used his profession to help maintain law and order in the country and help in the establishment of rule of law.

Founders' Day is a national public holiday observed to commemorate the contributions of all the people,notably the "Big Six" who led the struggle for Ghana's independence. There were several thoughts and realizations of the leaders of the Present President Akufo Addo's regime that other members of the "Big Six" who were part of the struggles for Ghana's independence must be honour as part of the celebration.

General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2020. Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was re-elected in the first round after securing a majority of the votes. Former President John Dramani Mahama announced that he would contest the results. At the Supreme Court,a petition challenging the result was filed on 30 December,and unanimously dismissed on 4 March 2021 for lack of merit.
The Ghana Union Movement is a political party in Ghana. It was founded by Christian Kwabena Andrews who is also the founder of the Life Assembly Worship Center in Accra. During the launch of the party,he declared that he is "new Kwame Nkrumah" and also that the "spirit of Nkrumah is back." The party's agenda received some backing from Samia Nkrumah,daughter of Kwame Nkrumah.
