The 1984 Winter Olympics, officially known as the XIV Olympic Winter Games and commonly known as Sarajevo '84, was a winter multi-sport event held between 8 and 19 February 1984 in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. It was the first Winter Olympic Games held in a Slavic language-speaking country, as well as the only Winter Olympics held in a communist country before the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. It was the second consecutive Olympic Games to be so held, after the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Soviet Union.
Kim Ki-hoon is a retired short-track speed skater and the first gold medalist in the Winter Olympics for South Korea. Kim is a three-time Olympic Champion and 1992 Overall World Champion.
Hong Kong, a special administrative region (SAR) of the People's Republic of China, sent a delegation to compete at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy from 10–26 February 2006. The delegation competed under the formal name Hong Kong, China. This was the SAR's second appearance at a Winter Olympic Games, and the delegation consisted of a single athlete, short track speed skater Han Yueshuang. Entered in three events, her best performance was 18th in the women's 1,000 metres race.
Yang Yang is a retired Chinese short track speed skater. She is a two-time Olympic Champion from 2002 Winter Olympics and a six-time Overall World Champion for 1997–2002. Known as Yang Yang (A), she was formerly a member of the Chinese national short track team. Yang is one of the most accomplished short track speed skaters of all time having won 34 world titles, including six Overall World Championships. She is the first person to have won six Overall World Titles and won six consecutively. Her victory in the women's 500 m short track at the 2002 Winter Olympics made her China's first-ever Winter Olympics gold medalist. She added a second gold in the women's 1000 m short track at the same Games and has also won two silver and a bronze medal. After 2003 World Championships, Yang took time off competing, but came back in 2004–2005 season in lead-up to 2006 Winter Olympics where she won the bronze medal in 1000m race. She retired soon afterwards.
Christin Elizabeth Cooper is a former World Cup alpine ski racer and Olympic medalist from the United States.
Li Jiajun is a former Chinese short track speed skater who has won 5 Olympic medals – two silver and three bronze. He has been a two-time Overall World Champion for 1999 and 2001.
Christin Petelski is a former competition swimmer and breaststroke specialist who represented Canada at two consecutive Summer Olympics in 1996 and 2000. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, she finished eighth position in the final of the women's 200-metre breaststroke. Four years later at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, she advanced to the semifinals of the 100-metre and 200-metre breaststroke, finishing 10th and 13th, respectively. Petelski was also a member of the sixth-place Canadian team in the women's 4x100-metre medley relay at the 2000 Olympics.
Mongolia sent a delegation to compete at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway from 12–27 February 1994. The Mongolian delegation consisted of a single short track speed skater Batchuluuny Bat-Orgil. He competed in two events, where he finished the 500 metres event in 24th place and the 1000 metres competition in 29th position.
Christin Steuer is a diver from Germany who won the bronze medal at the 2007 and 2011 World Aquatics Championships competing in the women's 10 meter synchronized platform. She has also won a European bronze medal in this discipline. She has also competed at three Olympics in the women's 10 m individual event and in the women's 10 m synchronized event (2012).
Hugo Herrnhof is an Italian retired short track speed skater who competed in the 1988 Winter Olympics, 1992 Winter Olympics and 1994 Winter Olympics.
Christin Wurth-Thomas is an American athlete who competes in middle distance track events. Wurth-Thomas competed for the United States in the women's 1500 m at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Belgium sent a delegation to compete at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada from 12–28 February 2010. The nation has been to every Winter Olympics except two, both in the 1960s. The Belgian delegation to Vancouver consisted of eight athletes, competing in four different sports. The delegation did not win any medals, and their best performance in any event was ninth by Pieter Gysel in the short track speed skating 1,500 meters event.

Christopher John Nicholson is a New Zealand sportsman who has represented the country at both the Winter Olympics as a short track speed skater and at the Summer Olympics as a cyclist. He competed at the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona, the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville, and the 1994 Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer. The only other New Zealander to compete at both the Summer and Winter Olympics is Madonna Harris.
