Christine Mary Humphreys,Baroness Humphreys, is a Welsh Liberal Democrats peer and leader of the party's group in the House of Lords.
Humphreys is also a former President of the Welsh Liberal Democrats and was a Member of the Welsh Assembly for the North Wales regional constituency from 1999 to 2001. She has also been the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Wales since 2015.
Before winning election to the National Assembly for Wales in 1999 she was a teacher and Head of Vocational Education in a Welsh Medium School in her home county of Conwy.
At the inaugural Assembly Election in 1999 she won a North Wales seat. She resigned on 22 March 2001 for health reasons and was succeeded by fellow Liberal Democrat Eleanor Burnham as Assembly Member for North Wales.
In November 2007 she was elected President of the party,defeating Bob Barton and John Last. She went on to serve two terms as party president,including one term as honorary president of the Welsh Young Liberals.
In August 2013 she was appointed a working peer, [1] but she has said that she favours Lords Reform. [2] She was created a life peer on 18 September 2013 taking the title Baroness Humphreys. of Llanrwst in the County of Conwy ,and made a point of taking the oath in her native Welsh instead of the traditional English. [3] Her maiden speech in the Lords focused on the significance of Welsh-language broadcasting. [4]
Diana Margaret Maddock,Baroness Maddock,Lady Beith was a British Liberal Democrat politician. She was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) for Christchurch in a 1993 by-election but lost the seat at the subsequent 1997 general election to Conservative Christopher Chope. She re-entered Parliament as a life peer as Baroness Maddock,of Christchurch in the County of Dorset,in 1997 where she remained until her death.
Dafydd Wynne Wigley,Baron Wigley,is a Welsh politician. He served as Plaid Cymru Member of Parliament (MP) for Caernarfon from 1974 until 2001 and as Assembly Member for Caernarfon from 1999 until 2003. He was the leader of Plaid Cymru from 1981 to 1984 and again from 1991 to 2000. On 19 November 2010 it was announced that he had been granted a life peerage by the Queen,and he took his seat in the House of Lords,as Baron Wigley of Caernarfon,on 24 January 2011.

In November 2010 she was nominated to the House of Lords,taking her place on 10 February 2011 having been created Baroness Brinton,of Kenardington in the County of Kent on 4 February. After Jo Swinson lost her seat at the 2019 United Kingdom general election,Brinton and Sir Ed Davey became acting co-leaders of the Liberal Democrats.
Michael James German,Baron German,OBE is a British politician,serving currently as a member of the House of Lords and formerly as a member of the National Assembly for Wales for the South Wales East region.
