The University of Ibadan (UI) is a public research university in Ibadan, Nigeria. The university was founded in 1948 as University College Ibadan, one of many colleges within the University of London. It became an independent university in 1962 and is the oldest degree-awarding institution in Nigeria. Through its graduate network, the University of Ibadan has contributed to the political, industrial, economic and cultural development of Nigeria. The history and influence of the University of Ibadan have made it one of the most prestigious universities in Africa.
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) is a federal university in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. The university was founded in 1961 and classes commenced in October 1962 as the University of Ife by the regional government of Western Nigeria, which was led by Samuel Ladoke Akintola. It was renamed "Obafemi Awolowo University" on 12 May 1987, so by the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida led military administration, in honour of Obafemi Awolowo (1909–1987), the first premier of the Western Region of Nigeria, who initially thought of the idea of establishing the university.
Chief Samuel Ládòkè Akíntọ́lá otherwise known as S.L.A. was a Nigerian politician, aristocrat, orator, and lawyer. He was one of the founding fathers of modern Nigeria, he served as Oloye Aare Ona Kakanfo XIII of Yorubaland and served as premier of Western Nigeria from independence in 1960 till his assassination in 1966.
Chief Ògúnwán̄dé "Wán̄dé" Abím̄bọ́lá is a Nigerian academician, a professor of Yoruba language and literature, and a former vice-chancellor of the University of Ife. He has also served as the Majority Leader of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Chief Abimbola was installed as Àwísẹ Awo Àgbàyé in 1981 by the Ooni of Ife on the recommendation of a conclave of Babalawos of Yorubaland.
The Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE) is an organization for chemical engineers in Nigeria. NSChE was officially inaugurated on 12 March 1969 at a meeting at BP House in Lagos attended by twenty four Chemical Engineers, all trained abroad. In 1999 it became a Division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. The Society publishes the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineering Journal.
Micheal Oladimeji Faborode is a Nigerian educational administrator and a professor of Agricultural Engineering. He was vice chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University from 2006 to 2011.

Cyril Agodi Onwumechili was a Nigerian physicist, academic administrator, and professor of geophysics at the University of Ibadan and later University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He was the fourth Vice Chancellor of the University of Ife from January 1979 to December 1982 and the former President/Vice Chancellor of the Anambra State University of Technology, Enugu, Nigeria, from January 1983 to December 1986. He delivered the Ahiajoku lecture on 20 November 2000. He was the first Nigerian geophysicist and the second president of the Nigerian Academy of Science. He was elected as president of the Academy in 1979 to succeed Professor Victor Adenuga Oyenuga, the first emeritus professor of the University of Ibadan and the first African professor of Agricultural science.
Oluwole Akinyele Agbede is a professor of Water resources and Geotechnical engineering at the University of Ibadan. He is a fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science who was elected into the Academy's Fellowship at its Annual General Meeting held in January 2015. He received a bachelor's degree in Applied Geophysics in 1976 and master's degrees in Engineering Geology in 1982 from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife and a doctorate degree in Civil engineering from City University London in 1985.
Abel Idowu OlayinkaFAS is a Nigerian professor of applied geophysics. He is a former deputy vice chancellor and former vice chancellor of the University of Ibadan. He is also the president of the West African Research and Innovation Management Association.

Gbemisola Adeoti is a Nigerian Academic and poet. He is a professor of literature in the English Department at Obafemi Awolowo University. Anthony Olusegun Adegbulugbe is a Nigerian professor of Energy Planning and Management, notable for his significant contributions to Nigeria's energy industry. He is the third chancellor of Joseph Ayo Babalola University and will officially resume office by December 8, 2023. Adegbulugbe served as a special adviser on Energy to Former President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria. He was a Member of the National Economic Management Team, and the Chairman of the National Gas to Power initiative between 2005 and 2007. Adegbulugbe was a contributor to the inter-governmental panel on Climate change (IPCC) Assessments reports which won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize along with former US Vice President Al Gore. He has played a crucial role in shaping energy policies in Nigeria.
Olutayo Charles Adesina is a professor of history at the University of Ibadan. His research interests are in the fields of economic history of West Africa, history of development, and Nigerian history. Adesina is a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Letters. He has at different times served as the Head of the History Department at the University of Ibadan.
