City of Sheffield & Dearne Athletic Club is an athletics club based in Sheffield, England. It is based at the Sheffield Hallam University City Athletics Stadium. The club competes in the British Athletics League Premiership and Northern Athletics League Division 1. The Young Athletes compete in the National Youth Development League. The Upper and Lower Age Group teams compete in the Northern East Premier Division.

Contents

From 2017 the club have joined the UK Women's League.

History

Sheffield United Harriers were formed in 1894. In 1975, Sheffield United Harriers amalgamated with Sheffield City Athletic Club to form Sheffield Athletic Club.

At the turn of the century the club assumed the name City of Sheffield Athletic Club. The club competed at the Don Valley Stadium until it closed in September 2013, [1] moving to Sheffield Hallam University City Athletics Stadium after refurbishments. [2]

In 2015 the club completed the merger with Dearne Athletic Club founded by Trevor Fox and competes under the name of City of Sheffield & Dearne Athletic Club. [3]

Roath Harriers runners became individual and team champions of the first Welsh Cross Country Championships, held on 7 March 1894. Roath Harriers shared Maindy Stadium with Birchgrove Harriers from its opening in 1951 and the two clubs amalgamated to form Cardiff Amateur Athletic Club in 1968. Zachary "Zac" Shaw is a British visually impaired sprinter who competes in the T12 and T13 disability classifications. At the age of nine he became afflicted with stargardt disease. In 2013 he started training for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro but was ultimately unsuccessful. In 2014 Shaw won silver in both 100 metres and 200 metres at the UK School Games. In 2015 he made his international debut in the Berlin IPC Grand Prix where he won bronze.

Ndodomzi Jonathan Ntutu is a visually impaired South African sprinter. Ndodomzi Jonathan Ntutu is currently South Africa's fastest ever para-athlete. His 10.80 was posted on April 12, 2018, during the heats of the Commonwealth Games. Competing in the T12 classification, Ntutu has competed at three Summer Paralympic Games, winning bronze in the 2012 Games in London. He is also a multiple World Championships winner, taking five medals over four tournaments.

Shannon Hylton is an English sprinter. She represented Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 2017 World Championships. She narrowly missed qualifying for the semifinals.

The 1997 BAF British Championships was the national championship in outdoor track and field for the United Kingdom held at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham. The 10,000 metres event was hosted separately at the Sheffield Hallam UCA Stadium.

Vinay Kumar Lal is an Indian Para athlete competing in Men's 100m, 200m, 400m events in the T44 category. He is bronze medallist in Asian Para Games 2018 held in Jakarta, Indonesia. He also won bronze medal in 2019 World Para Athletics Championships held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
