The original line-up consisted of vocalist Denis "Snake" Bélanger, guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour, drummer Michel "Away" Langevin and bassist Jean-Yves "Blacky" Thériault. The band has had numerous members changes throughout its 42-year career, with Langevin as the only consistent member. The band gained notice as part of the Progressive Nation 2009 tour with Dream Theater, Zappa Plays Zappa and Bigelf.

The release shows the band's first venture towards their progressive sound when compared to the previous EP Shapeshifter which features more of a traditional deathcore sound. Apparition is also the band's only release with Dave Hoffman on vocals, Jonathan Carpenter would join the band immediately after his departure. Not long after the release of this EP, the band was signed to Good Fight and released their debut album, Exoplanet in the following year.

Coma Ecliptic is the seventh studio album by American progressive metalcore band Between the Buried and Me, released on July 10, 2015 through Metal Blade Records. The band first announced the album through Twitter on September 8, 2014 saying "It has begun! #rockopera". Similar to previous releases by the band, Coma Ecliptic is a concept album. The first single, "Memory Palace" was released on April 3, 2015.
The Stage is the seventh studio album by American heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold. It was released on October 28, 2016, through Capitol Records, their only release through the label. It is the first Avenged Sevenfold album to feature drummer Brooks Wackerman, who joined the band in late 2014 but was not revealed as Arin Ilejay's official replacement until Ilejay's departure in 2015, because the band wanted to "make sure that it was a correct fit".

At 67 minutes and 57 seconds, it is the band's longest studio album. It is also the band's last album to feature drummer Martin Axenrot before his departure in 2021.

Artificial Language is an American progressive metal band from Fresno, California founded in late 2015 by guitarists Victor Corral and Charlie Robbins, bassist Josh Riojas, keyboardist Jonathon Simpson and drummer Jeron Schapansky, all hailing from the Central Valley area. Vocalist Shay Lewis, from Rhode Island, joined them later.
