Clarence Olafemi is a Nigerian politician who was appointed acting Governor of Kogi State in February 2008,after the election of governor Ibrahim Idris was annulled. [1] He handed back to Ibrahim Idris on 29 March 2008 after Idris had won a fresh election. [2]
Olafemi was born in the Mopa-Muro Local Government Area of Kogi State. He is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University,Zaria. He was a governorship candidate in the old Kwara State. [3]
Olafemi was elected to the Kogi State house of assembly for the Mopamuro Constituency in April 2007 on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) platform. In September 2007,the Kogi State Election Petitions Tribunal in Lokoja nullified his election. [4] He appealed this decision,and in February 2008,the Court of Appeal in Abuja upturned the judgement. [5] In July 2008,he was called before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to explain his role in the alleged misappropriation of N12 billion belonging to the state. [6]
In April 2010,he was an aspirant to become a candidate for the 2011 Kogi State governorship elections. [7]
Boni Haruna is a Nigerian politician who served as Minister for Youth Development of Nigeria from 2014 to 2015. He previously served as governor of Adamawa State from 1999 to 2007. He was a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
Ibrahim Idris is a Nigeria politician and businessman who served as the governor of Kogi State from 2003 to 2008 and from 2008 to 2012. He is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Idris was succeeded by his brother-in-law Captain Idris Wada,who won election in December 2011 and took office in January 2012.
Prince Abubakar Audu was a Nigerian career banker and politician who was the first civilian governor of Kogi State. He ruled Kogi State twice. His first tenure was from January 1992 until November 1993 and the second from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2003. He died due to a bleeding ulcer before the announcement of the election results on 22 November 2015,while seeking to be re-elected as governor on the platform of Nigeria's ruling party,All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN),formerly known as Action Congress (AC),was a Nigerian political party formed via the merger from the coming together of a faction of Alliance for Democracy,the Justice Party,the Advance Congress of Democrats,and several other minor political parties in September 2006. As of 2007 it was accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to give certificates in Art and printing,Business,Engineering,Finance and Science Computing at the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels. In December 2009 the polytechnic presented 16 programs for accreditation to a visiting team of NBTE officials,mainly for the new schools of Engineering and Environmental Technology,Applied Science and Management Studies. The Rector said the school had to be able to offer core engineering and technology programs in order to fulfill its mandate.

The 2015 Kogi State Gubernatorial election was held on 21 November 2015 to elect a governor for Kogi State. The last Kogi state gubernatorial election was held in 2011. The incumbent governor,Captain Idris Wada,ran for re-election against the former governor,Prince Abubakar Audu,the candidate of the All Progressives Congress. Kogi State has a different governorship election calendar from other states of the Nigerian Federation. This happened in 2007,when the Appeal Court affirmed annulment of the election of the incumbent,Ibrahim Idris for electoral irregularities and ordered a fresh election in a case filed by Abubakar Audu.
The 2019 Kogi State gubernatorial election occurred on 16 November 2019. Incumbent APC Governor Yahaya Bello won re-election for a second term,defeating PDP Musa Wada and several minor party candidates.
The 2011 Kogi State gubernatorial election was the fifth gubernatorial election of Kogi State,Nigeria. Held on December 3,2011,the People's Democratic Party nominee Idris Wada won the election,defeating Abubakar Audu of the Action Congress of Nigeria.
The 2023 Kogi State gubernatorial election was held on 11 November 2023 to elect the Governor of Kogi State. Incumbent APC Governor Yahaya Bello was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third term in office. The primaries were scheduled for between 27 March and 17 April 2022.
