Colonel (retired) Bzigu Lassa Afakirya was the Military Administrator of Kogi State,Nigeria from August 1996 to August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha. [1] When he assumed office he dissolved and reconstituted the Local Government Service Commission. [2] Following the return to democracy,as a former military administrator he was required to retire from the army. [3] In October 2005,he was awarded fellowship of the Kogi State Polytechnic. [4]
Kogi State is a state in the North Central region of Nigeria,bordered to the west by the states of Ekiti and Kwara,to the north by the Federal Capital Territory,to the northeast by Nasarawa State,to the northwest by Niger State,to the southwest by the Edo and Ondo states,to the southeast by the states of Anambra and Enugu,and to the east by Benue State. It is the only state in Nigeria to border ten other states. Named for the Hausa word for river (Kogi). Kogi State was formed from parts of Benue State,Niger State,and Kwara State on 27 August 1991. The state is nicknamed the "Confluence State" due to the fact that the confluence of the River Niger and the River Benue occurs next to its capital,Lokoja.
Lokoja is a city in Nigeria. It lies at the confluence of the Niger and Benue rivers and is the capital city of Kogi State. While the Yoruba (Oworo),Bassa Nge and Nupe are indigenous to the area,other ethnic groups of Nigeria,including the Kupa-Nupe,Hausa,Ebira,Igala,Igbo,Bini/Edo,and Tiv have recently established themselves. Projected to be the third fastest growing African continent city between 2020 and 2025,with a 5.93% growth. It was listed a second class township by the 1917 township ordinance of the colonial administration. This shows that Lokoja is an old city.
Ibrahim Idris is a Nigeria politician and businessman who served as governor of Kogi State from 2003 to 2011. He is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Idris was succeeded by his brother-in-law Captain Idris Wada,who won election in December 2011 and took office in January 2012.
Ọlagunsoye Oyinlọla is a retired Nigerian general,he became governor of Osun State,Nigeria in May 2003,and was reelected in 2007. He was a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). On 26 November 2010 a court of appeals nullified his election. He later defected to the APC shortly before the 2014 Osun State governorship election. He was former military administrator of Lagos State.
Prince Abubakar Audu was a Nigerian career banker and politician who was the first civilian governor of Kogi State. He ruled Kogi State twice. His first tenure was from January 1992 until November 1993 and the second from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2003. He died due to a bleeding ulcer before the announcement of the election results on 22 November 2015,while seeking to be re-elected as governor on the platform of Nigeria's ruling party,All Progressives Congress (APC).
Chief Abdulkareem Adebisi Bamidele Akande is a Nigerian politician,who was the governor of Osun State from 1999 to 2003,as a member of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) party. He was the first interim Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.
Jonathan Tunde Ogbeha is a Nigerian politician and retired brigadier general who served as the administrator of Akwa Ibom State and then of Bendel State during the military rule of General Ibrahim Babangida (1985–1993). He then became military administrator of Edo State in August 1998,handing over power to the civilian governor Lucky Igbinedion in May 1999.

Augustine Aniebo is a retired Nigerian army brigadier general who served as military administrator of Borno State from 1997 to 1998 during the regime of General Sani Abacha and administrator of Kogi State from 1998 to 1999 during the regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar,handing over to the elected civilian governor Abubakar Audu on 29 May 1999,at the start of the Fourth Republic.
Kogi State Polytechnic was established in 1993,and is located in Lokoja,Kogi State,Nigeria. It is owned and operated by Kogi State. As of 2007 it was accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to give certificates in Art and printing,Business,Engineering,Finance and Science Computing at the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels. In December 2009 the polytechnic presented 16 programs for accreditation to a visiting team of NBTE officials,mainly for the new schools of Engineering and Environmental Technology,Applied Science and Management Studies. The Rector said the school had to be able to offer core engineering and technology programs in order to fulfill its mandate.

He held office from August 1991 until January 1992 during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida,handing over to the elected governor Abubakar Audu at the start of the Nigerian Third Republic.
Clarence Olafemi is a Nigerian politician who was appointed acting Governor of Kogi State in February 2008,after the election of governor Ibrahim Idris was annulled. He handed back to Ibrahim Idris on 29 March 2008 after Idris had won a fresh election.

The 2015 Kogi State Gubernatorial election was held on 21 November 2015 to elect a governor for Kogi State. The last Kogi state gubernatorial election was held in 2011. The incumbent governor,Captain Idris Wada,ran for re-election against the former governor,Prince Abubakar Audu,the candidate of the All Progressives Congress. Kogi State has a different governorship election calendar from other states of the Nigerian Federation. This happened in 2007,when the Appeal Court affirmed annulment of the election of the incumbent,Ibrahim Idris for electoral irregularities and ordered a fresh election in a case filed by Abubakar Audu.
