Colonel Rasheed Alade Shekoni started his military career as a young boy in the Nigerian Military School where he did his form 1 to form 5 before moving to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
He was a Military Administrator of Jigawa State from August 1996 to August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha,and then of Kwara State from August 1998 to May 1999 during the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar. [1]
He built the Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital in Dutse,capital of Jigawa state,but it was then abandoned for ten years before it could be equipped and put to use. [2] In Kwara State he completed building the 360-unit Adinimole Housing Estate. However,the succeeding government of Mohammed Lawal took four years to allocate the flats. Reportedly they then went to Lawal's favorites. [3]
Lieutenant Colonel Rasheed A. Shekoni served as the final military governor of Kwara State from August 14,1998,until May 29,1999,when Nigeria transitioned to democracy. During his tenure,Shekoni implemented several initiatives to improve the state's education and water infrastructure. Under the Special Projects Fund,Shekoni's administration focused on rehabilitating secondary schools in Kwara State,water projects,the Agba Dam in Ilorin,were reactivated,commissioned the construction of a water treatment plant to ensure clean and accessible water supply in the area. The state's road network posed significant challenges,and Governor Shekoni prioritized road development efforts. He recognized the poor condition of Kwara State's roads and actively engaged with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing and the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) to secure support for road construction projects across different regions of the state. Shekoni administration undertook the construction of 50 housing units at Adewole Estate. These units were intended to provide residential accommodation for state employees,addressing the acute shortage of housing.
On May 29,1999,Shekoni peacefully handed over the reins of government to Alhaji Mohammed Alabi Lawal,marking the restoration of democracy in Kwara State. [4]
Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida is a Nigerian retired general and statesman who served as military president of Nigeria from 1985 until his resignation in 1993. He rose through the ranks to serve from 1984 to 1985 as Chief of Army Staff;going on to orchestrate his seizure of power in a coup d'état against Muhammadu Buhari.

Sunday Orinya Ifere was a Nigerian army officer who was the Military Governor of Kwara State between July 1978 and October 1979. As a lieutenant,in the unsuccessful Nigerian counter-coup of 1966 he was involved in fighting in Kaduna,serving in the same squadron as Ibrahim Babangida,who later became military head of state from August 1985 until August 1993. A colonel when military governor,he retired as a major general.

Abdulkareem Adisa was a Nigerian major general who was military governor of Oyo State during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. He was convicted for involvement in an attempted coup against military head of state General Sani Abacha in 1997,and was on death row when Abacha died in June 1998. He was subsequently pardoned.
Mohammed Alabi Lawal was a Nigerian naval officer who was military governor of Ogun State between December 1987 and August 1990 during the military administration of General Ibrahim Babangida. He was one of the pioneers of the Nigeria Navy Secondary School Abeokuta.The then Navy Captain Mohammed Lawal,invited the Nigerian Navy to consider a location of the defunct St Leo's Teachers' Training College at Ibara Abeokuta (www.nnssab.net)on a hilly Onikolobo site. This premises had been abandoned and merely serve as a route to the Catholic Compound and was also used for administering a newly conceived secondary school in that name. The Nigerian Navy considered the site and found it suitable. After the return to democracy in 1999 he was elected governor of Kwara State,holding office from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2003.
Chris Abutu Garuba was Governor of Bauchi State,Nigeria from August 1985 to December 1988 during the military regime of Major General Ibrahim Babangida. He was born in Ipole,Otukpa Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Lt. Colonel Abubakar Sadi Zakariya Maimalari was the Military Administrator of Jigawa State from August 1998 to 29 May 1999 during the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar,when he handed over to the elected Executive Governor Ibrahim Saminu Turaki. His father was Brigadier Zakariya Maimalari,a senior army officer who was murdered during the January 1966 coup that brought General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi to power. Following the return to democracy,as a former military administrator he was required to retire from the army.

Colonel (retired) Peter A.M. Ogar was Military Administrator of Kwara State,Nigeria between August 1996 and August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha. After the return to democracy in 1999,Ogar was required to retire,as were all other former military administrators. When the United Nigeria Development Forum was formed by former military governors in April 2001,Ogar was a member of the steering committee.
Brigadier General (retired) Ahmed Abdullahi was Military Administrator of Kwara State,Nigeria between December 1987 and July 1988 during the military regime under General Ibrahim Babangida.
