Bamigboye was the first military governor posted to Kwara State in 1967. His administration made good use of the highly intelligent, experienced and patriotic civil servants deployed to the state. He and the members of the State Executive Council recorded a number of achievements. These included the building of secretariats to cater for the office accommodation of civil servants in the state capital, as well as all the local government headquarters in the state; the construction of water works across the state for the provision of drinking water for all citizens; the construction of the Oyo Bypass Road (now Ibrahim Taiwo Road), as well as other roads in the state; and the construction of Kwara Hotels, Ilorin.

In response to the people's demand for quality education, the administration also established government secondary schools and technical colleges across the state, while at the same time encouraging communities and religious bodies to establish further secondary schools. The establishment of the Kwara College of Technology (now Kwara State Polytechnic) and the School of Nursing and Midwifery, both in llorin, are also both credited to the Bamigboye administration. The administration also laid a solid foundation for the state in terms of healthcare delivery services by building general hospitals in major towns and healthcare centres in rural areas. Among the parasites established were the Kwara State Printing And Publishing Corporation: Government Printing Press: the Gateway Insurance Company (established in 1970 to serve Kwara State in particular and also the wider state of Nigeria); the Kwara State Investment Corporation, llorin; Kwara Paper Converters; Erin-lle Midland Stores: Nigerian Television(NTV), which later became NTA llorin; Kwara Food Production Company Lid, established in 1973 and which produced Eagle Rice Among other products; Kwara State Council for Arts And Culture, established on 1 September 1970; and the Kwara State Council established in 1969. The Outstanding Leadership Award was conferred on Bamigboye by the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed, on 27 May 2017.

Offa is a city in Kwara State of Nigeria, with a population of about 166,112 inhabitants. The town is noted for its weaving and dyeing trade, using vegetable dyes made from locally grown indigo and other plants. Offa is well known for the cultivation of sweet potatoes and maize which also formed part of the favourite staple foods for the indigenes in the town. Cattle, goats and sheep are also raised there. The main religions practiced in the town are Islam, Christianity and traditional religions.

University of Ilorin, also known as UNILORIN, is a federal government-owned public-research university in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. The university's main campus sits on an expansive area of land, about 15,000 hectares in the ancient city of Ilorin; making it the largest university in Nigeria and one of the largest in Africa by landmass. The university comprises 17 faculties and over 100 academic departments. It was established by a decree of the Federal Military Government of Nigeria in August, 1975. The establishment aimed to implement one of the educational directives of the Third National Development Plan, which was aimed at providing more opportunities for Nigerians aspiring to acquire university education and to generate high-level manpower, which is vital for the rapidly expanding economy. Compared to other higher institutions of learning in the country, the institution has one of the largest land areas, covering approximately 15,000 hectares of land. It is reported by Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) to be the most sought-after Nigerian university in 2021. And again in 2023, it was announced by the JAMB Head, Professor Ishaq Oloyede to be the sought-after University, for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME), making it for the 10th consecutive year.

Salaudeen Adebola Latinwo was a group captain in the Nigerian Air Force and a military governor of Kwara State, Nigeria, under Muhammadu Buhari's military government.

Theophilus O Bamigboye is a retired Nigerian Colonel who served as Military Administrator of Bauchi State and then Osun State before the return to democracy in May 1999. He later entered politics, competing for governorship of Kwara State in 2007.

Mohammed Alabi Lawal ; January 24, 1946 – November 15, 2006) was a Nigerian naval officer who was military governor of Ogun State between December 1987 and August 1990 during the military administration of General Ibrahim Babangida. He was one of the pioneers of the Nigeria Navy Secondary School Abeokuta.The then Navy Captain Mohammed Lawal, invited the Nigerian Navy to consider a location of the defunct St Leo's Teachers' Training College at Ibara Abeokuta (www.nnssab.net)on a hilly Onikolobo site. This premises had been abandoned and merely serve as a route to the Catholic Compound and was also used for administering a newly conceived secondary school in that name. The Nigerian Navy considered the site and found it suitable. After the return to democracy in 1999 he was elected governor of Kwara State, holding office from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2003.

Colonel (retired) Peter A.M. Ogar was Military Administrator of Kwara State, Nigeria between August 1996 and August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha. After the return to democracy in 1999, Ogar was required to retire, as were all other former military administrators. When the United Nigeria Development Forum was formed by former military governors in April 2001, Ogar was a member of the steering committee.

Kwara State Polytechnic is a Nigerian tertiary institution that was established in 1973 by the then Military Governor of Kwara State Col. David Bamigboye after the decision to establish a polytechnic in Kwara State was announced in 1971. It is located in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.

The 2019 Kwara State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9, 2019. APC's AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq polled 73.12% of the total votes, ahead of PDP's Razak Atunwa who got 25.31% of votes trailing behind by a margin of 216,792 votes, and several minor party candidates. APC won in all 16 LGAs of the state.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kwara state library</span> Public library in Nigeria

Kwara State Library is a public library in Kwara State, Nigeria. The library was established soon after the state was created in 1967 when it was found that the library in Kaduna was inadequate. The library was renovated in 2005, establishing the administrative, technical, and acquisition divisions. Its headquarters are in the state capital Ilorin, with divisional libraries in Jebba and Offa. It was established with the aim of providing qualitative and adequate reading resources for the people of the state, irrespective of age, educational background, status in the state, religion and gender.
