Theophilus O Bamigboye( Listen ) (born 1951) is a retired Nigerian Colonel who served as Military Administrator of Bauchi State and then Osun State before the return to democracy in May 1999. He later entered politics,competing for governorship of Kwara State in 2007. [1]
Theophilus O Bamigboye was born in 1951 in Omu-Aran in Irepodun Local Government in Kwara State. [2] His brother is Brigadier General David Bamigboye,Military Governor of Kwara State from May 1967 until July 1975. [3] He married the socialite Enitan Allen,who was conspicuous during his tenure as governor of Bauchi and Osun states. They later were divorced. [4]
Theophilus O Bamigboye served as Military Administrator of Bauchi State (August 1996 - August 1998) during the military regime of General Sani Abacha. He invested in education,constructing primary and secondary schools buildings and providing equipment and improved incentives for teachers. He provided a new permanent site for Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC). During his tenure Gombe State was created out of Bauchi. [5]
He was appointed Military Administrator of Osun State in August 1998, [6] handing over power to the civilian governor Adebisi Akande in May 1999. [1]
Theophilus Bamigboye entered politics as a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP),later moving to the Democratic People's Party (DPP),and then to the Accord Party. [7] In April 2007 he competed on the Accord Party platform for governorship of Kwara State,without success. [8] At one point in the campaign,gun wielding youths started shooting when Bamigboye was speaking at a rally of his supporters,but he escaped unharmed. [9] Bamigboye appealed the electoral result where Dr Bukola Saraki had won the race for governor,claiming there had been widespread malpractices,corruption,violence,intimidation and exclusion of the photograph and logo of the Accord Party from the ballot papers,but in July 2008 an electoral appeal court upheld Saraki victory. In September 2009 Theophilus Bamigboye returned to the PDP and was reconciled with Olusola Saraki,father of the incumbent governor. He said that his decision to leave the PDP had been a mistake,and it was time to retrace his steps. He also said he would be willing to serve as governor of Kwara State if needed. [11]
Abubakar Bukola Saraki(Listen)MBBS is a Nigerian politician. He was the 13th President of the Senate of Nigeria from 2015 to 2019 and Chair of the 8th Nigeria National Assembly. He was previously the Governor of Kwara State from 2003 to 2011;and was elected to the Senate in 2011,under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),representing the Kwara Central Senatorial District,and then re-elected in the 2015 general elections under the party of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mohammed Alabi LawalListen was a Nigerian naval officer who was military governor of Ogun State between December 1987 and August 1990 during the military administration of General Ibrahim Babangida. He was one of the pioneers of the Nigeria Navy Secondary School Abeokuta.The then Navy Captain Mohammed Lawal,invited the Nigerian Navy to consider a location of the defunct St Leo's Teachers' Training College at Ibara Abeokuta (www.nnssab.net)on a hilly Onikolobo site. This premises had been abandoned and merely serve as a route to the Catholic Compound and was also used for administering a newly conceived secondary school in that name. The Nigerian Navy considered the site and found it suitable. After the return to democracy in 1999 he was elected governor of Kwara State,holding office from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2003.

However in 2019,he contested again under the ruling political party in Nigeria,the All Progressive Congress,and emerged as the governor of Kwara State,after he won the 2019 governorship election in the state. In 2021 he introduces KwaraLEARN in basic education to empower teachers.

The 2019 Kwara State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9,2019. APC's AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq polled 73.12% of the total votes,ahead of PDP's Razak Atunwa who got 25.31% of votes trailing behind by a margin of 216,792 votes,and several minor party candidates. APC won in all 16 LGAs of the state.

The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections were held on 25 February 2023 in all 109 senatorial districts where voters elected senators using first-past-the-post voting. The last regular senatorial elections for all districts were in 2019.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Kwara State will be held on 25 February 2023,to elect the 3 federal Senators from Kwara State,one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election,as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives;with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
