Sani Abacha GCFR was a Nigerian dictator who ruled the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 17 November 1993 until his death on 8 June 1998. He served as Chief of Army Staff from 1985 to 1990, Chief of Defence Staff from 1990 to 1993; Minister of Defence under the Interim National Government, going on to become the first officer of the Nigerian Army to attain the rank of a four-star military general without skipping a single rank. His near 5 year rule, is considered one of the most authoritarian and bloodiest eras of military rule in the country, with the regime accused of perpetrating many deaths, including the infamous Ogoni Nine.

Colonel Aminu Isa Kontagora was Administrator of Benue State, Nigeria from August 1996 to August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha, then Administrator of Kano State from September 1998 to May 1999 during the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar, handing over power to the elected executive governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on 29 May 1999.
Brigadier-General Dominic Obukadata Oneya was Administrator of Kano State, Nigeria from August 1996 to August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha, then Administrator of Benue State from August 1998 to May 1999 during the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar, handing over power to the elected executive governor George Akume on 29 May 1999. Later, he became Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association.
Group Captain Rufai Garba was the Military Administrator of Anambra State in Nigeria from 21 December 1996 to 6 August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha, and then of Sokoto State from 6 August 1998 to 29 May 1999 during the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar, when he handed over to the elected Executive Governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarwa.
Abdulkareem Adisa was a Nigerian Major General who was military governor of Oyo State during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. He was convicted for involvement in an attempted coup against military head of state General Sani Abacha in 1997, and was on death row when Abacha died in June 1998. He was subsequently pardoned.

Usman Sa'idu Nasamu Dakingari was elected governor of Kebbi State in Nigeria in April 2007, taking office on 29 May 2007. He is a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He was reelected on 26 April 2011. However, on 24 February 2012 the Supreme Court upheld a ruling by the Kebbi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that nullified his election, and ordered a fresh election within 90 days. He was elected again on 31 March and took office on 2 April.
Brigadier General Samuel Bature Chamah was Administrator of Katsina State in Nigeria from August 1996 to August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha, and then of Kebbi State from August 1998 to May 1999 during the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar, handing over power to the elected civilian governor Adamu Aliero on 29 May 1999.
Navy Commander (retired) Walter Feghabo served as the first Military Administrator of Ebonyi State in Nigeria between October 1996 and August 1998 after Ebonyi State was created from parts of Enugu State and Abia State during the military regime of General Sani Abacha. He was then appointed administrator of Delta State in August 1998 during the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar, handing over to the elected civilian governor James Ibori on 29 May 1999. In June 1999, all former military administrators in the Abacha and Abubakar regimes were retired by the Federal Government, including Walter Feghabo.
Rear Admiral Allison Amaechina Madueke is a retired Nigerian naval officer. He was Chief of Naval Staff from 1993 to 1994, military governor of Anambra State from January 1984 to August 1985, and Imo State military governor from 1985 to 1986.
Lt. Colonel Dauda Musa Komo was Administrator of Rivers State, Nigeria from December 1993 to August 1996 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha. He took office at a time of escalating violence between the Ogoni and Okrika people over crowded waterfront land, combined with Ogoni protest against Shell Oil activities and the environmental destruction of Ogoni land. He reacted aggressively, sending troops to break up demonstrations and arresting leaders of the Ogoni's MOSOP movement.
Haliru Mohammed Bello is a Nigerian politician. He was trained in veterinary medicine. He held various administrative positions under the military governments before 1999. He was Minister of Communications from June 2001 to May 2003. After he left office, he was indicted in a bribery scandal involving the German telecom company Siemens AG.
Colonel (retired) Mohammed Inua Bawa was appointed the Administrator of Ekiti State, Nigeria during the military regime of General Sani Abacha. He was then appointed Administrator of Gombe State from August 1998 to May 1999, handing over to the elected civilian governor at the start of the Nigerian Fourth Republic.
Major General (retired) Lawrence Anebi Onoja was the military governor of Plateau State, Nigeria from 1986 to July 1988 and then of Katsina State until December 1989 during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. He later became Principal Staff Officer to General Sani Abacha, before being arrested for alleged involvement in a coup attempt. He retired from the army in 1998, and after the return to democracy in May 1999 with the Nigerian Fourth Republic entered into politics.

Abubakar Atiku Bagudu is a Nigerian politician and the current governor of Kebbi State, Nigeria. Previously, he served as the Senator for the Kebbi Central constituency of Kebbi state. He is a named accomplice in multiple investigations involving corruption that occurred during the regime of former Nigeria's military ruler Sani Abacha.
