Claudio Escauriza

Claudio Escauriza (born 3 May 1958 in Paraguay) [1] is a Paraguayan athletics coach and former decathlete, who competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, United States of America and the 1st IAAF World Championships in 1983 in Helsinki, Finland. Escauriza represented Paraguay at several South American Championships, and also holds the Paraguayan national record in decathlon with a score of 6,943. [2] He was the coach of Paraguayan Javelin Thrower Fabian Jara. [3] Escauriza is the father of Paraguayan tennis player Lara Escauriza. [4]

Escuariza finished 2nd at the 1982 Southern Cross Games in Argentina. [5]

Coaching

Escauriza and Édgar Torres both attended the 2012 Summer Olympics as coaches of the group. [6]

At the 2013 South American Championships in Cartagena, Colombia, Escauriza was part of the coaching body with Plinio Penzzi and Hungarian Thomas Zuddy. [7]

Personal life

In 2009, Escauriza, along with José Luis Chilavert, Tomás Orué and lawyer Alejandro Rubin, attended a Press Conference at Asunción Shopping Centre Shopping del Sol, in support Edgar Baumann, who had received a favorable ruling from the Paraguay Supreme Court in a case against the Paraguay Olympic Committee president Ramón Zubizarreta for robbing him the right of competing at the 2000 Summer Olympics and also taking his sums of money that he earned from his scholarship. Nery Gustavo Kennedy Rolón is a javelin thrower from Paraguay, who represented his native country at two Summer Olympics. He briefly held the South American record for the Javelin Throw with a result of 81.28m, thrown on 9 May 1998, overtaking compatriot Edgar Baumann at the time. The mark stood until 1999, when compatriot Baumann threw 84.70 metres. In 2008, he worked as a coach in Canada with Frédérick Bouchard. He achieved the Texas A&M Javelin Throw record in 1994. Kennedy was coached by Juan De La Garza at Texas A&M in 1996.

Asociación de Atletismo del Alto Paraná is a track and field athletics club based in the city of Ciudad del Este in Paraguay. The club is affiliated with the Federación Paraguaya de Atletismo. The majority of the club's participations and achievements are for Marathon and Long distance running. The AAAP also organizes many marathon events within Ciudad del Este and Hernandarias, and also competes in marathons in neighbor city Foz de Iguazu in Brazil. Club Atlético Águilas del Sur initialed CAAS is a track and field athletics club based in the city of Santa Rosa of the Misiones department in Paraguay. Édgar Fabian Jara Dohmann is a Paraguayan javelin thrower. He represented the University of Texas in the US and also Sol de América in Paraguay. Jara was coached by Olympic Athlete Claudio Escauriza and Santiago Pérez up to his arrival at the University of Texas in 2014, when he started training under American former javelin thrower, Ty Sevin.
