Colour Revolt is an American rock band from Oxford, Mississippi.
Colour Revolt's members first played together while they were high school students at Jackson Academy in Jackson, MS under the name Foxxe, then changing to Fletcher and releasing a full-length album entitled "Friends Don't Speak". They then moved on to become college students at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi. [1] They took their current name from Edwin Abbott's mathematical novel, Flatland . [1] The group had intended to record their first EP in Mississippi in August 2005, but Hurricane Katrina interrupted the recording session, and so they recorded it in the house of local label Esperanza Plantation's owner, Chaney Nichols. [2] The self-titled EP came out in December 2005; following this the group toured with Brand New and signed to Interscope Records, who re-released the EP on their subsidiary Tiny Evil in October 2006. [1]
The group has also performed at SXSW and toured with Dinosaur Jr., Black Lips, Okkervil River, Brand New, Menomena, Paper Rival, Explosions in the Sky, Malajube, Anathallo, and Manchester Orchestra. [3] They then signed with Fat Possum Records; their full-length debut, Plunder, Beg and Curse , produced by Clay Jones, was released on April 1, 2008. [4] In 2008, Boston newspaper The Phoenix named them the Best New Band from Mississippi. [5] In 2009, Jesse Coppenbarger released a solo full-length album under the moniker El Obo. [6]
More recently, Cajeolas, Clark and Addison left the band for personal reasons and the band was dropped from Tiny Evil. They were replaced by Daniel Davison, formerly of Norma Jean, on drums, Brooks Tipton on keyboards, and Hank Sullivant, formerly of The Whigs, on bass. The band was signed to Dualtone Records. 2010 saw the release of their second album, The Cradle . Davison and Sullivant were replaced by Patrick Ryan and Luke White for their summer tour.
Coppenbarger has recorded a new solo album as El Obo, titled Reach Into the Dark and Pull it Closer, which was released June 12, 2020. The album includes production by Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra and was released by Favorite Gentlemen Recordings, Hull's personal label.
The New Christs are an Australian garage rock band formed in 1980 by founding mainstay, Rob Younger, on lead vocals. Younger was the lead singer for punk rockers, Radio Birdman, and in other hard rock groups, New Race, Bad Music, the Other Side, Nanker Phelge, and Deep Reduction. The New Christs line-up since 2011 is Younger with Jim Dickson on bass guitar, Dave Kettley on guitar, Paul Larsen on drums and Brent Williams on guitar and keyboards. Over their career the group have issued five studio albums, Distemper (1989), Lower Yourself (1997), We Got This! (2002), Gloria (2009) and Incantations (2014). Three former members have died: Stevie Plunder in January 1996, Mark Wilkinson in December 2012 and Christian Houllemare in June 2014.

Sunset Rubdown is a Canadian art rock music group from Montreal. The band began as a solo project for Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade, who released his debut, Snake's Got a Leg, in early 2005. By the next year the project expanded to become a full band which included Camilla Wynne Ingr, Jordan Robson-Cramer, and Michael Doerksen.
Chulahoma: The Songs of Junior Kimbrough is an EP by American rock duo The Black Keys. Essentially a tribute album, it is a collection of the band's cover versions of songs by Fat Possum Records bluesman Junior Kimbrough, who died in 1998. The title is a Choctaw word for red fox and is a reference to Chulahoma, Mississippi, location of "Junior's Place", a juke joint bought by Kimbrough around 1992 and operated after his death by his sons until it burned down on April 6, 2000.
Tokyo Police Club is an indie rock band from Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 2005, it consists of vocalist and bassist Dave Monks, keyboardist Graham Wright, guitarist Josh Hook, and drummer Greg Alsop. The band found early success with their 2006 debut EP A Lesson in Crime, which they followed with several popular releases including the albums Elephant Shell and Champ in 2008 and 2010, respectively. During the 2010s, they released three other studio albums. Among other nominations, the band has been twice nominated for the Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year, in 2011 for Champ and in 2019 for TPC.

One for the Team is an indie rock group from Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 2006, the band was formed by American songwriter Ian Anderson, who is also the founder of Afternoon Records. One for the Team served as an outlet for Anderson's musical talent and songwriting that did not fit his older band Aneuretical. The band has released three full-length albums, Good Boys Don't Make Noise in 2006 on Afternoon Records, Build It Up in 2008 on The Militia Group and Afternoon Records, Ghosts in 2010 on Afternoon Records and one EP, Build A Garden in 2009. The band is completed by co-lead-vocalist and keyboard player Grace Fiddler, and drummer Elliot Manthey, and bass player Jacob Huelster.

Plunder, Beg and Curse is Colour Revolt's first full-length release, as well as the last to feature bassist Patrick Addison, drummer Len Clark, and guitarist Jimmy "Catfish Boogaloo" Cajoleas in the lineup. The album was a commercial flop and the band was dropped from their label, Fat Possum, following the release. It was released April 1, 2008. Acoustic versions of "Naked and Red," "A Siren," and "Moses of the South," are present in the band's 2008 Daytrotter session.
The Cradle is the second full-length album from Oxford, Mississippi, indie-rock band, Colour Revolt. It is the band's first since drummer Len Clark, bassist Patrick Addison, and guitarist Jimmy Cajoleas left in 2008 and were replaced by drummer Daniel Davison, keyboardist Brooks Tipton, and bassist/producer Hank Sullivant. It is also their first for their new label Dualtone Records, who signed the band after they were dropped by Fat Possum in 2008. It was released on August 10, 2010 and has received the highest reviews out of the band's three releases thus far. The lyrics for much of the album deal with the hardships endured by the band after the lineup change and being dropped from their label, specifically in the first two songs, "8 Years," and "Our Names."
