Dualtone Records is an American record label specializing in folk, Americana, and indie rock. It was founded in 2001 by Scott Robinson and Dan Herrington. [1] [2] The company is run by Robinson and the label's president, Paul Roper. Albums are distributed by the Alternative Distribution Alliance. On January 20, 2016, Entertainment One acquired Dualtone Records. [3] Later, Dualtone's parent company eOne Music was acquired by The Blackstone Group in June 2021, with eOne Music rebranded as MNRK Music Group in September 2021.
Dualtone has been nominated for sixteen Grammy Awards, winning four. The label celebrated its 20th year in 2021.
First year in business brought a number 2 hit at country radio for David Ball's "Riding with Private Malone". [4] The album Amigo went on to sell over 350,000 copies.
June Carter Cash's posthumous album Wildwood Flower was released in 2003. Including some of the final duets between her and husband Johnny Cash, the album went on to win two GRAMMY awards.
Brett Dennen's breakout album So Much More was released in 2006. "Ain't No Reason" from that album is now over 500,000 in all in sales. The label also released Dennen's second album Hope for the Hopeless in 2008 and Loverboy in 2011.
The Lumineers' self-titled debut album was released in April 2012 and was certified platinum in the US on February 20, 2013. [5] The album is now over 3 million all in sales. [6]
In 2014, Guy Clark's My Favorite Picture of You won the Grammy Award for Best Folk Album at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. [7]
Shakey Graves And the War Came also was released in 2014. Shakey went on to win Best Emerging Artist at the 2015 Americana Awards. [8] And the War Came is approaching 200,000 sold with breakout single Dearly Departed over 400,000.
The Lumineers' second album Cleopatra was the first album of 2016 from an independent label to debut at No. 1 with over 120,000 albums sold. [9] The album is now over 1.5 million.
In October 2016 on Chuck Berry's 90th birthday, Dualtone announced an album of new material coming in 2017. [10] Berry's 20th and final studio album, Chuck , was released posthumously on June 9, 2017. In September 2017, Dualtone (via eOne and Ole) became the official US song publisher for Berry's catalogue. [11]
Mt. Joy was signed in 2017 and released their breakthrough single "Silver Lining" in November which went on to go to number 1 at AAA. [12] The band's self titled album is over 160 million streams in the US. Recently the label has added Amos Lee, Angie McMahon, Hayes Carll, Gregory Alan Isakov, Kathleen Edwards and The Lone Bellow to the roster. Angie McMahon won the coveted Grulke prize at SXSW in 2019 [13] and her breakout single "Slow Mover" was certified Gold in Australia. Gregory Alan Isakov's album Evening Machines landed at number 1 on the Billboard Americana/Folk chart on release [14] and went on to be nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Folk Album. [15]
The Lumineers' third album III was released September 13, 2019 and debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Independent Chart. [16]
BR549 was an American country rock band founded in 1993. It originally consisted of Gary Bennett, Don Herron, "Smilin'" Jay McDowell, Chuck Mead, and "Hawk" Shaw Wilson. Bennett and McDowell left the band in 2001, with Chris Scruggs and Geoff Firebaugh respectively replacing them. Both Firebaugh and Scruggs later left the band as well; Mark Miller has become the band's third bassist. The name of the band is taken from a mangled phone number from Hee Haw comedian Junior Samples' car salesman skit.

Allison Moorer is an American country singer-songwriter. She signed with MCA Nashville in 1997 and made her debut on the U.S. Billboard Country Chart with the release of her debut single, "A Soft Place to Fall", which she co-wrote with Gwil Owen. The song was featured in Robert Redford's The Horse Whisperer and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1999. Moorer performed at the Oscars ceremony the same year. She has made ten albums and her songs have been recorded by Trisha Yearwood, Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Steve Earle, and Hayes Carll.
Gregory Alan Isakov is a South African-born American singer and songwriter currently based in Boulder, Colorado. Isakov and his family immigrated to the United States in 1986 and he was raised in Philadelphia.
Rebecca Ann Loebe is an American musician, singer-songwriter, and record producer. She has performed and toured with such recording artists as Shawn Colvin, The Civil Wars, Gregory Alan Isakov, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Ellis Paul amongst others. In 2011 she made her international broadcast television debut on The Voice . In addition to being a solo singer she is a founding member of Austin-based band Nobody's Girl.

John Fullbright is an American singer-songwriter from Okemah, Oklahoma. While still in high school, Fullbright performed at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah. In 2009 he released the album Live at the Blue Door and three years later released his first studio album, From the Ground Up, which received a Grammy nomination in the category Best Americana Album. He has been the subject of two segments on NPR and was a 2012 winner of ASCAP Foundation's Harold Adamson Lyric Award.

Mt. Joy is an American five-piece indie rock band based in Los Angeles with roots in Philadelphia. Its members are Matt Quinn, Sam Cooper (guitar), Sotiris Eliopoulos, Jackie Miclau (keyboards), Bay Ledges, and Michael Byrnes (bass). The band debuted in 2015 with the single "Astrovan", recorded in Los Angeles by Quinn, Cooper, and Byrnes. This was followed up in 2017 by the trio of singles "Sheep", "Cardinal", and "Silver Lining". On March 2, 2018, Mt. Joy released its debut eponymous studio album. For the next two years, Mt. Joy performed at festivals and on tour as a support act, as well as headlining a North American and European tour. After a tour with The Lumineers was cut short due to COVID-19, Mt. Joy released its second studio album, Rearrange Us, on June 5, 2020. Its third studio album, Orange Blood, was released on June 17, 2022.
