Flipturn gained traction in 2018 with their EP Citrona. [4] The band signed to Dualtone Records in June 2022. [5] They released their debut album Shadowglow in August 2022, which received positive reception. [6] [4] The album release was followed by a tour through the United States in late 2022 into 2023 and the prestigious lineups of Lollapalooza, Governor’s Ball, Bonnaroo, Shaky Knees & SXSW. [7]

In November 2023, the band announced its Something More Tour due to take place in Spring 2024, with support from fellow indie rock band Richy Mitch and the Coal Miners. [8]

On September 26, 2024 the band released the single "Rodeo Clown" in tandem with the announcement of their sophomore album "Burnout Days" set to be released in January 2025. In the Instagram post announcing the song the band wrote: "When we started working on this song last July I remember thinking it had a sort of floating feeling to it. That feeling combined with the only other substance I know that makes one feel like floating, was what inspired the story of the 'Rodeo Clown'. Contrary to someone like “The Man in the Arena” who takes responsibility for the things life has thrown his way, the Rodeo Clown tries to escape a reality he doesn’t want to be in… all whilst putting on a show for those around him."
