Columbus Tubi is a manufacturer of steel tubing used in bicycle frames, located in Settala, in the Province of Milan. The company was founded in 1919 by A.L. Colombo and was taken over by Colombo's youngest son, Antonio, in 1977. [1] It is now a division of Gruppo SPA, which also owns the bicycle manufacturer Cinelli. [2]

Columbus tubing was the main competitor to TI Reynolds 531 in the bicycle tube set market with many of the big name Italian manufacturers of bicycles and framesets utilising their products. [3] Famous name builders such as Bianchi, [4] Centurion Bicycles (after 1981), De Rosa, Ciocc, [5] Pinarello, and Colnago all specified the Columbus tubesets as part of their range.

Today the company produces a wide variety of butted tubes, [6] and also produces pre-formed carbon fiber components.

It was registered as Tube Investments in 1919, combining the seamless steel tube businesses of Tubes Ltd, New Credenda Tube, Simplex and Accles & Pollock. Reynolds Tube joined the group in 1928.

Bianchi was a brand of Italian motorcycle made from 1897 to 1967 by F.I.V. Edoardo Bianchi S.p.A.. The company also produced automobiles from 1900 to 1939, and today is a major Italian bicycle manufacturer. Edoardo Bianchi started his bicycle manufacturing business in a small shop on Milan's Via Nirone in 1885. Bianchi was a prominent name in the motorcycle racing world from 1925 to 1930.

Iride Bicycles is a brand of bicycles manufactured at the Gemmati Velocipedi factory, near the city of Venice, in the town of Cintello di Teglio Veneto in northern Italy. It was established in 1919. The trademark was originated by Umberto Gemmati and continues to be produced by his grandson Carlo Gemmati. The word iride is Italian for iris and is pronounced like the root of the word iridescent.
