The Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City is the head of Hyderabad City Police.
The commissioner is an Indian Police Service officer of the rank of Director general of police (DGP) or Additional director general of police (ADGP). The commissioner heads the police force in a jurisdiction consisting of approximately 650 km2 area and home to a population of 1.6 Crore (16 million) with a 40 lakh (4 million) floating population.
The post of Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City has its roots in Hyderabad State during the Nizam period. Called Kotwal-e-Balda or Kotwal for short, the Commissioner of police was appointed by the Nizam of Hyderabad. Apart from holding the powers and privileges as the head of police, he also enjoyed certain judicial and civil powers. He was the chief adviser to the Nizam on all police matters and was part of the his durbar. Most of the Kotwals were nobles. The first Hindu kotwal was Raja Bahadur Venkat Rama Reddy, who served as the Commissioner during the reign of Mir Osman Ali Khan Nizam VII. [1]

Hyderabad State or Hyderabad Deccan was a country, kingdom, and then princely state in the south-central Deccan region with its capital at the city of Hyderabad. It is now divided into the present-day state of Telangana, the Kalyana-Karnataka region of Karnataka, and the Marathwada region of Maharashtra in India.
Mahbubnagar, formerly known as Rukmammapeta and Palamooru is a city in Mahbubnagar District of the Indian state of Telangana named after the 6th Nizam, Mahboob Ali Khan. It is the headquarters of Mahbubnagar mandal in Mahbubnagar revenue division. The city is also the largest in the district with an area of 39.64 km2 (15.31 sq mi) and 7th most populous in the state.

Mir Osman Ali Khan, Asaf Jah VII was the last Nizam (ruler) of the Princely State of Hyderabad, the largest state in the British Indian Empire. He ascended the throne on 29 August 1911, at the age of 25 and ruled the State of Hyderabad between 1911 and 1948, until India annexed it. He was styled as His Exalted Highness (H.E.H) the Nizam of Hyderabad, and was widely considered one of the world's wealthiest people of all time. With some estimates placing his wealth at 2% of U.S. GDP, his portrait was on the cover of Time magazine in 1937. As a semi-autonomous monarch, he had his mint, printing his currency, the Hyderabadi rupee, and had a private treasury that was said to contain £100 million in gold and silver bullion, and a further £400 million of jewels. The major source of his wealth was the Golconda mines, the only supplier of diamonds in the world at that time. Among them was the Jacob Diamond, valued at some £50 million, and used by the Nizam as a paperweight.
The Telangana High Court is the High Court for the Indian state of Telangana. Founded by the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad Mir Osman Ali Khan, initially, it was set up as High Court of Hyderabad for the then princely state of Hyderabad Deccan and later renamed High Court of Andhra Pradesh, as it was set up on 5 November 1956 under the States Reorganisation Act, 1956. The Andhra Pradesh High Court was renamed as High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad in view of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh state.

Raja Bahadur Venkatarama Reddy was a police officer who served as the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City. He was the first Hindu Kotwal of Hyderabad State, as in the late 19th and early 20th century, during the rule of the Nizams, the powerful position of Kotwal of Hyderabad, was usually held by Muslims. His tenure lasted 14 years and commanded great respect among the public for his outstanding police administration.
1952 Mulkhi Agitation or Mulkhi Agitation was a political movement for the safeguarding of jobs in Hyderabad State government for native residents, or Mulkis. It was the first event in Telangana Movement. The agitation lasted between July 26 to mid-September, 1952.

He is a 1990 batch IPS officer of the Telangana cadre. He has also served with the United Nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1998 - 99.
Marri Rajasekhar Reddy is an Indian politician from Telangana state. He is an MLA from Malkajgiri Assembly constituency in Medchal Malkajgiri district. He represents Bharat Rashtra Samithi and won the 2023 Telangana Legislative Assembly election.
