Francisco Malespín Herrera was an army officer and politicians, elected as the president of El Salvador in 1844. He served from 7 February 1844 to 15 February 1845, when he was deposed by his vice president Joaquín Eufrasio Guzmán after leading the country to war against Guatemala, a neighboring state of the Federal Republic of Central America. Numerous sources also confirm that Malespin also attempted to depose the provincial Nicaraguan government. After being deposed, Malespin returned to El Salvador with forces from Honduras, but he was captured and assassinated. Some of Malespin's closest allies were Francisco Ferrera in Honduras as well as Juan Lindo, both conservatives. He was supported by Honduras after his downfall.

It may be seen as an exposé of the sensationalism of radio stations of the period. Enrique Santos Discépolo won praise for his performance as the increasingly desperate director of the station.

The Central American Age Group Championships in Athletics is an athletics event organized by the Confederación Atlética del Istmo Centroamericano CADICA open for athletes from member associations. The event is divided into the Junior C (U-16) Central American Championships and the Infantile A (U-14) Central American Championships. The Junior C category is open for girls and boys aged 14–15. The Infantile A category is open for girls and boys aged 12–13. The competition started to be open for age groups U-14 and U-12 as Campeonatos Centroamericanos Infantil. There is a report on an early competition held in the year 1984 in El Salvador. At least from 1999 on, it is verified that the competition is held annually. In 2007, the format was changed to be open for the age groups U-16 and U-14, with U-12 competitions being held occasionally. In 2012, a specific Central American "Kids Athletics" tournament was introduced for this age group.

He was especially known for his orchestral work supporting starlet Libertad Lamarque, with songs including Te quiero (1946) and many more. He was a frequent collaborator with director Luis Moglia Barth in the Golden Age of Argentine cinema, and was particularly prolific in the late 1930s and 1940s, composing for films such as Twelve Women (1939), Confesión (1940), Con el dedo en el gatillo (1940), Huella (1940), and Boína blanca (1941). He also worked on films such as Caminito de Gloria (1939) with Luis César Amadori, and La Verdadera victoria (1944) with Carlos F. Borcosque.
