Conah Walker (born 19 May 1995) is an English professional boxer who has held the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles since 25 January 2025.
As a teenager, Walker was excluded from school and spent nearly two years in a junior detention centre. [3] He joined Merridale ABC in Wolverhampton and compiled an amateur record of 30 wins from 33 bouts. [3] [4]
Originally trained by former world champion Ricky Hatton, Walker made his professional boxing debut on 22 September 2018, recording a fourth round stoppage win over Jan Prokes. [4] [5] He claimed the vacant Midlands Area welterweight title thanks to a points success over Levi Ferguson in Sheffield on 28 May 2021. [6] [7]
On 19 August 2023, Walker won the WBA International welterweight title by defeating the previously unbeaten Cyrus Pattinson at Utilita Arena in Birmingham, knocking him to the canvas three times during the contest, before his opponent retired at the end of the eighth round. [8] [9]
He successfully defended his belt by stopping Lloyd Germain in round three at Ulster Hall in Belfast on 27 January 2024, [10] [11] but lost the title via unanimous decision to Lewis Crocker at Resorts World Arena in Birmingham on 22 June 2024. [12] [13]
Returning to the same venue, Walker got back to winning ways with a unanimous decision victory over former British champion Lewis Ritson on 30 November 2024. [14] [15] In his next fight, he won the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles with an 11th round stoppage of defending champion Harry Scarff at Nottingham Arena on 25 January 2025. Edward Patrick "Mickey" Walker was an American professional boxer who held both the world welterweight and world middleweight championships at different points in his career. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, he was also an avid golfer and would later be recognized as a renowned artist. Walker is widely considered one of the greatest fighters ever, with ESPN ranking him 17th on their list of the 50 Greatest Boxers of All-Time and boxing historian Bert Sugar placing him 11th in his Top 100 Fighters catalogue. Statistical website BoxRec rates Walker as the 6th best boxer to have ended his career at middleweight, while The Ring Magazine founder Nat Fleischer placed him at No. 4 among greatest middleweights of all time. The International Boxing Research Organization ranked Walker as the No. 4 middleweight and the No. 16 pound-for-pound fighter of all-time. Walker was inducted into the Ring magazine Hall of Fame in 1957 and the International Boxing Hall of Fame as a first-class member in 1990.
Richard John Hatton is a British former professional boxer who competed between 1997 and 2012, and has since worked as a boxing promoter and trainer. During his boxing career he held multiple world championships in the light-welterweight division, and one at welterweight. In 2005 he was named Fighter of the Year by The Ring magazine, the Boxing Writers Association of America, and ESPN.
Keith Fitzgerald Thurman is an American professional boxer. He is a former unified welterweight world champion, having held the WBA title from 2016 to 2019, and the WBC title from 2017 to 2018. As of July 2022, he is ranked as the world's fifth best active welterweight by BoxRec.
