Conor Ferguson (born 11 October 1999) is an Irish swimmer. He is competed at the 2024 Olympics for Ireland in the 4x100m Medley Relay alongside Shane Ryan, Max McCusker & Darragh Greene finishing 11th with a National Record

Career

When Ferguson was 15 he won two silvers in the 2015 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival in the 100 & 200 backstroke

The following year Ferguson competed in the 2016 European Championships finishing 13th in the 100m backstroke

Ferguson made his World Championships debut at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships competing in the 200m backstroke and finishing in 21st place

In Ferguson's second European Championships in 2018 he just missed out on the final in the 50m backstroke finishing 9th Ferguson also just missed out on the final also coming 9th in the 100m backstroke, alongside Shane Ryan, Darragh Greene & Brendan Hyland Ferguson competed in the 4x100m Medley Relay but got Disqualified

Ferguson Competed for Northern Ireland at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and got to two finals finishing 5th in the 50m backstroke and 8th in the 100m Backstroke and in the 200m Backstroke he finished 9th narrowly missing out on the final, while he finished 6th in the 4x100m Medley Relay.

At the 2019 World Championships Ferguson finished 28th in the 50m backstroke and 33rd in the 200m Backstroke and was in the Irish Mixed 4x100m Medley Relay whom finished 19th

Conor got to his first European final finishing 7th in the 50m Backstroke at the 2020 European Championships which took place in 2021 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic

In 2023 at the 2023 World Championships Ferguson got his best world finishes of his career so far after a 13th place finish in the 50m Backstroke & 22nd in the 100m Backstroke, while it was a 13th place finish in the 4x100m Medley Relay

In February of 2024 at the 2024 World Championships Conor finished 13th in the 100m Backstroke and got to his first ever World Final in the 4x100m Medley Relay alongside Shane Ryan, Max McCusker & Darragh Greene finishing 7th

Ferguson along with Ryan, McCusker & Greene had qualified to represent Ireland at the 2024 Olympics in Paris in the 4x100m Medley Relay the event which they had previously that year got to a world Final in Doha. They finished three spots outside of a finals place in 11th place setting a New National Record of a time of 3.33.81.

He won a silver medal as lead-off for Great Britain in the 4 x 100 metre medley relay for men at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He won a gold medal as lead-off for England in the heats of the 4 x 100 metre medley relay for men at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

He also won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and a gold medal at the 2017 World Championships in Budapest, both were in the 200 metre backstroke event. Anastasia "Nastiya" Gorbenko is an Israeli competitive swimmer. She competes in the backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and medley. She has won 8 World and European championships gold medals, competed at 2 Olympic finals, broken most of the Israeli national records for women and mixed relays, and is considered to be Israel's greatest swimmer of all time. In February 2024, Gorbenko won a silver medal at the Doha World Championships in the women's 400 meters individual medley. Gorbenko represented Israel at the 2024 Summer Olympics in swimming in the 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke, 100m breaststroke, 200m individual medley, 400m individual medley, 4x200m freestyle relay, and mixed 4x100m medley relay.
