Constructor Group AS is a Norwegian-registered international company, with headquarters in Oslo, that specialises in the manufacture and supply of shelving, mobile shelving, pallet racking and similar storage systems, primarily for commercial use in offices, factories, warehouses, museums, archives, libraries and retail outlets.

History

The oldest part of Constructor Group can trace its origins back to 1856.

The current company name was adopted in 1996 following the merger of Electrolux's Swedish subsidiary Electrolux Constructor [4] with Kasten Høvik. At this time, Constructor was owned by Norwegian industrial investment company Aker RGI who, in 2000, acquired the Dexion Group. [5] In 2007, as part of the Aker Material Handling group of companies, it was sold to the Swedish finance investor Altor Equity Partners. [6] In 2018 Constructor Group AS was sold to Gonvarri Material Handling.

In 2010, Constructor Group opened a £5.5m high-tech distribution hub at the former PSS site in Swindon in southern England. [7] [8] [9] In June 2011, it launched an online shelving resource: shelving.co.uk. [10]

Pallet rack is a material handling storage aid system designed to store materials on pallets. Although there are many varieties of pallet racking, all types allow for the storage of palletized materials in horizontal rows with multiple levels. Forklift trucks are usually required to place the loaded pallets onto the racks for storage. Since the Second World War, pallet racks have become a ubiquitous element of most modern warehouses, manufacturing facilities, retail centers, and other storage and distribution facilities. Advertising Age described 7digital in 2008 as a British download store, while the New York Times referred to them as a digital music company. 7digital's Smooth Operations, Unique Production and Above the Title companies are now branded 7digital Creative, and produce content for BBC Radio 1, Radio 1Xtra, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 3. Demetrius Comino was an Australian engineer, inventor, entrepreneur and philanthropist during the 20th century. He invented the slotted angle steel construction system, Dexion, which became widely used internationally for commercial shelving, storage racking, exhibition stands, accommodation, and for domestic purposes. In 1971 he founded the Comino Foundation, an educational charity.
