A Santa Ana man drove into a Costa Mesa preschool playground on May 3, 1999 and killed 2 students and injured four other students and a teachers aide. [1]
The driver; Steven Allen Abrams, drove his 1967 Cadillac into the playground of the Southcoast Early Childhood Learning Center on May 3, 1999 around 5 pm. [2] He drove the vehicle through the chain link fence around the playground and aimed for those in the playground. Witnesses stated Abrams drove past the playground and then U-turned back towards the playground before he accelerated into the schoolyard at a speed of 35 to 40 mph. He continued through the playground, before he crashed into a tree, and trapped two boys and one girl underneath his vehicle. [3]
The two deceased victims were Brandon Wiener, 3-years-old and Sierra Soto, 4-year-old. Another four students and a teachers aid were injured in the crash. [4]
Steven Allen Abrams was arrested and initially charged with assault with a deadly weapon. [5] He was convicted of two counts of murder, five counts of attempted murder and two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter; which also include a couple that were rammed by Abrams prior to the playground being targeted. [6] In a taped confession that was played for jurors during the trial Abrams stated; "I was executing them....as many as I could get. [....] I was aiming for as many children as I could kill." [6]
The mother of Soto, Cindy Soto Beckett founded Sierra's Light Foundation to advocate for improved safety at preschools, and the mother of Wiener later founded the Brandon Cody Wiener Scholarship Fund in 2002, which sends young children victims of violent crimes to a week long summer camp in Bonsall. Steve Stevens is an American guitarist and songwriter. He is best known as Billy Idol's guitarist and songwriting collaborator, and for his lead guitar work on the theme to Top Gun – "Top Gun Anthem" – for which he won a Grammy in 1987: Best Pop Instrumental Performance. He brought Spanish flamenco guitar stylings to the song "Pistolero" (1999) for the trance group Juno Reactor. During 2012–2016, Stevens appeared with Kings of Chaos. His "Steve Stevens" group headlined the closing performance at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt, Germany, in April 2016. He is also a television personality on the E! show Married to Rock, alongside his wife, Josie Stevens.

On March 3, 2006, Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, an Iranian-American, intentionally, as he confessed, hit people with a sport utility vehicle on the campus of the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill to "avenge the deaths of Muslims worldwide" and to "punish" the United States government. While no one was killed in the vehicle-ramming attack, nine people were injured.
On February 23, 2001, a vehicular homicide and assault occurred in the student community of Isla Vista, California, near the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) campus. Four people were killed and a fifth, who suffered critical injuries, died in October 2016. The driver, David Attias, was ruled legally insane and sentenced to 60 years in a mental institution. In September 2012 the court approved Attias' to walk free after serving only 10 years for killing five people.

The Blackheath train accident occurred at 7:03 a.m. on 25 August 2010 when a Metrorail commuter train crashed into a minibus taxi on the Buttskop Road level crossing in Blackheath, a suburb of Cape Town, South Africa. The minibus was carrying fourteen children to school; nine died on the scene and five were hospitalised. One of the injured children died two days later in the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital. The minibus driver was also hospitalised; there were no injuries aboard the train.

He played college football at Arkansas and was their starting quarterback from 2013 to 2015. He was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft and has also previously been a member of the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos.

On June 7, 2016, a pickup truck crashed into a group of cyclists in Cooper Township in Kalamazoo County, Michigan. Five cyclists were killed in the crash, and four were injured. The Townville Elementary School shooting occurred on September 28, 2016, in Townville, South Carolina, located 40 miles (64 km) southwest of Greenville. Fourteen-year-old Jesse Osborne shot three students and a teacher, critically wounding six-year-old student Jacob Hall, who died from his injuries three days later. Osborne, who also shot and killed his father before the shooting, was arrested as the sole suspect and charged with murder and attempted murder.

The Toronto van attack was a vehicle-ramming attack that occurred on April 23, 2018, when a rented van was driven along Yonge Street through the North York City Centre business district in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The driver targeted pedestrians, killing 10 and injuring 16, some critically.
The Charlottesville car attack was a terror attack perpetrated on August 12, 2017, when James Alex Fields Jr. deliberately drove his car into a crowd of people who had been peacefully protesting the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, killing one and injuring 19. The 20-year-old Fields had driven from Ohio to attend the rally. Fields previously espoused neo-Nazi and white supremacist beliefs. He was convicted in a state court of hit and run, the first-degree murder of 32-year-old Heather Heyer, and eight counts of malicious wounding, and sentenced to life in prison with an additional 419 years in July 2019. He also pled guilty to 29 of 30 federal hate crime charges to avoid the death penalty, which also resulted in another life sentence handed down in June 2019.
