The 2020 Summer Paralympics, branded as the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, were an international multi-sport parasports event held from 24 August to 5 September 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. They were the 16th Summer Paralympic Games as organized by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

For the third consecutive time in the Summer Olympics, the United States was represented by more female than male athletes (285 men and 330 women).

María Belén Tavella, known as Belén Tavella, is an Argentine sailor. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Tavella competed in the women's 470 event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She studied biochemistry at the University of Buenos Aires, but had to pause her postgraduate studies in 2019 to focus on yachting.
