History

CronLab was founded in Gothenburg, Sweden and introduced its first Anti-Spam Hardware Appliances in 2009. "CronLab Light 1100 anti-spam appliance review", PC Pro , 7 March 2011, retrieved 8 April 2012 CRN Magazine , [1] and SC Magazine , [2] In 2010, the company moved its headquarters to London, United Kingdom. It has also released software as a service hosted models of the spam filtering technology [3] awarded a recommendation by Techworld , [4] and hosted email archiving solutions. [5]

CIDE Group, a toy manufacturer, partnered with CronLab on development of a children's tablet computer. The tablet, called "Kurio", features CronLab's hosted web-filtering and parental controls technology. [6] CronLab has agreements for distribution in France, Belgium, Switzerland, [7] Germany, [8] Norway, [9] Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania, [10] Ireland and the United Kingdom. [11]

The company's security products aim to protect against email and web threats such as spam, spyware, trojans and viruses, and they also provide an email archiving solution. [12] CronLab's products support multi-tenancy and are marketed to ISPs, MSPs and IT consultants.[ citation needed ] Their products can all also be white labelled. [13]

Postini, Inc. was an e-mail, Web security, and archiving service owned by Google since 2007. It provided cloud computing services for filtering e-mail spam and malware, offered optional e-mail archiving, and protected client networks from web-borne malware.

Brightmail Inc. was a San Francisco-based technology company focused on anti-spam filtering. Brightmail's system has a three-pronged approach to stopping spam, the Probe Network is a massive number of e-mail addresses established for the sole purpose of receiving spam. The Brightmail Logistics and Operations Center (BLOC) evaluates newly detected spam and issues rules for ISPs. The third approach is the Spam Wall, a filtering engine that identifies and screens out spam based on the updates from the BLOC.

Red Condor, Inc. is a privately held company that offers anti-spam appliances and a hosted service that block e-mail spam, spyware, and viruses. The company also offers a message archiving service that provides back-up of inbound and outbound email messages.

Halon is a commercial scriptable SMTP server. It's available for Linux as well as a software distribution based on FreeBSD. Halon supports DANE as well as MTA-STS for encrypted email transfer, and offers email security features such as spam filtering from CYREN, DMARC and DKIM. It supports transparent operation in order to filter spam coming out of servers not administered by the provider.
