Cross-country skiing at the 2012 Youth Winter Olympics took place at the Cross-Country World Cup Course at the Seefeld Arena in Seefeld, Austria from 14 to 16 January. Five events were contested (2 per gender) and a mixed relay with biathlon athletes. [1]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Seefeld in Tirol</span> Place in Tyrol, Austria

Seefeld in Tirol is an old farming village, now a major tourist resort, in Innsbruck-Land District in the Austrian state of Tyrol with a local population of 3,312. The village is located about 17 km (11 mi) northwest of Innsbruck on a plateau between the Wetterstein mountains and the Karwendel on a historic road from Mittenwald to Innsbruck that has been important since the Middle Ages. It was first mentioned in 1022 and since the 14th century has been a pilgrimage site, benefiting not only from the visit of numerous pilgrims but also from its stacking rights as a trading station between Augsburg and the Venice. Also since the 14th century, Tyrolean shale oil has been extracted in the area. Seefeld was a popular holiday resort even before 1900 and, since the 1930s, has been a well known winter sports centres and amongst the most popular tourist resorts in Austria. The municipality, which has been the venue for several Winter Olympics Games, is the home village of Anton Seelos, the inventor of the parallel turn.

Grete Ingeborg Nykkelmo is a former biathlete and cross-country skier from Norway. She competed in both events from 1982 to 1992.

At the 1964 Winter Olympics seven cross-country skiing events – four for men and three for women – were contested. The events began on January 30, 1964, in Seefeld, Austria. The women's 5 km race debuted at this Olympics.

The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1985 took place January 16–27, 1985 in Seefeld, Austria. This was the fourth time the Innsbruck area hosted these championships, having done so in 1933, the 1964 Winter Olympics, and the 1976 Winter Olympics. Both the Gundersen method and freestyle skiing for the cross-country skiing portion of the event were introduced in both Nordic combined events.

Arlid Monsen is a former Norwegian cross-country skier who competed at international level from 1982 to 1989. He won the 4 × 10 km gold at the 1985 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld and finished seventh in the 15 km event at same championship.

The men's individual normal hill/10 km Nordic combined competition for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, was held at Whistler Olympic Park in Whistler, British Columbia, on 14 February.

The 1995–96 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was the 15th official World Cup season in cross-country skiing for men and women. The season began in Vuokatti, Finland, on 25 November 1995 and finished at Holmenkollen, Oslo, Norway, on 16 March 1996. Bjørn Dæhlie of Norway won the combined men's cup, and Manuela Di Centa of Italy won the women's.

Toni-Seelos-Olympiaschanze is a ski jumping hill in Seefeld outside of Innsbruck, Austria. It is a part of the Seefeld Nordic Competence Centre consists of two hills, a normal hill with a hill size of HS109 (K-99) and medium hill with at HS75 (K-68). Next to the jumps is a cross-country skiing stadium. It opened in 1931 as Jahnschanze, but was renamed in honor of Anton Seelos in 1948.

The 41st FIS Nordic World Ski Championships were held from 20 February to 3 March 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol, Tyrol, Austria. It was the second time Seefeld in Tirol hosted the world championships, the event having been hosted there previously in 1985.

The Seefeld Nordic Competence Centre is a multi-sport venue for nordic skiing located in Seefeld in Tirol, Austria. It consists of a cross-country skiing stadium, the Toni-Seelos-Olympiaschanzes with two ski jumping hills; a normal hill and a medium hill and a shooting range for biathlon. It has previously hosted the 1976 Winter Olympics and the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 1985 and 2019.
