Crystal Carson (born June 24, 1967) is an American actress and acting coach, best known for playing Julia Barrett on General Hospital.

Early life

She is the oldest of 4 children. [1] Her father, who managed the circulation department at the Omaha World Herald, died from cancer when Carson was 7. [1]

She graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in theater and a minor in computer science. [1]

Career

She began acting as a teen, doing community theater and working as an extra in Terms of Endearment. [1]

Her early credits include guest appearances on Cheers, Thirtysomething, Midnight Caller, Simon & Simon, Charles in Charge, Night Court and Dallas. She also appeared in the Madonna film Who's That Girl and Killer Tomatoes Strike Back with John Astin. [2]

She played the contract role of Julia Barrett on the ABC soap opera General Hospital from 1991-1993, returning for guest appearances in 1997 and 1998. [2] [3]

After General Hospital, she had a recurring role on JAG. [2]

She now has a full-time career as an acting coach, running the Auditioning By Heart acting school. Her clients have included David Boreanaz, Tricia Helfer, and Paula Abdul. [4]

Personal life

She married Peter Bradley in July 1990. [1] They have a daughter. [3]

Carson announced in 2021 that she was undergoing treatment for stage 3 breast cancer. [5]
