South Korea, as Korea, competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, United States. The nation returned to the Summer Games after participating in the American-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics. 175 competitors, 116 men and 59 women, took part in 97 events in 19 sports. As the country hosted the next Olympics in Seoul, a traditional Korean segment was performed at the closing ceremony.

R. Gurney's Love Letters. He is best known for his roles in Public Enemy film series, Peppermint Candy, Oasis, Silmido, Hope and The Merciless.

The South Korea men's national volleyball team represents South Korea in international volleyball competitions and friendly matches, governed by Korea Volleyball Association. The Republic of Korea (ROK) has competed in the Olympic Games eight times, but has not featured since the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. The national team's best performance at the Olympic Games was 5th place at the 1984 Games in Los Angeles, California, United States. The national team at the FIVB World Championship competed nine times, with their best result at 4th place in 1978. 1987: When the Day Comes is a 2017 South Korean political thriller film directed by Jang Joon-hwan and written by Kim Kyung-chan. The film stars Kim Yoon-seok, Ha Jung-woo, Yoo Hae-jin, Kim Tae-ri, Park Hee-soon and Lee Hee-joon. Set in 1987 and based on a true story, the film focuses on the events that led up to the June Democratic Uprising in Korea, triggered by the death of a student protester during police interrogation which the authorities conspire to cover up. Jang has compared the overall structure of the film to a relay race, with the focus of the story shifting between several characters to convey the collective effort of the political resistance. The film was released in theaters on December 27, 2017.
Queen of Mystery 2 is a South Korean television series starring Choi Kang-hee and Kwon Sang-woo. It aired on KBS2 from February 28 to April 19, 2018 on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 22:00 (KST) for 16 episodes.

It was the 18th appearance of the country at the Asian Games, except the first edition in Delhi. Inspector Koo is a 2021 South Korean television series starring Lee Young-ae in the title role, alongside Kim Hye-jun, Kim Hae-sook, Kwak Sun-young, Baek Sung-chul and Cho Hyun-chul. The series is about the battle of a former police officer against a female college student who is a serial killer. It aired from October 30 to December 12, 2021 on JTBC's Saturdays and Sundays at 22:30 (KST) time slot. It is also available for streaming on Netflix in selected regions.
Kill Boksoon is a 2023 South Korean crime action film directed and written by Byun Sung-hyun, starring Jeon Do-yeon, Sol Kyung-gu, Esom, and Koo Kyo-hwan. It is slated to release on Netflix on March 31, 2023.
