DAX is a chain of 25 beauty and variety stores in Mexico based in Tijuana, Baja California, the country's sixth largest metropolitan area. The stores are modeled along the United States model of large pharmacies such as CVS or Walgreens, selling cosmetics, beauty supplies, and a limited range of kitchen supplies, decorative accessories, small appliances and electronics. DAX states that it is targeted at women. [1] It can be characterized as a variety store, beauty store, and pharmacy.
DAX was originally launched by Dorian's, [1] a now-defunct 14-store Tijuana-based department store chain. Carlos Slim's Grupo Carso bought Dorian's Tijuana, S.A. de C.V. in 2004. The Dorian's brand came to an end in 2009 when Carso converted the Dorian's stores to Sears. [2] DAX stores are now part of Grupo Carso's retail arm, Grupo Sanborns, which also includes Sears, Sanborns, and iShopMixup.

Saks Fifth Avenue is an American luxury department store chain headquartered in New York City and founded by Andrew Saks. The original store opened in the F Street shopping district of Washington, D.C. in 1867. Saks expanded into Manhattan with its Herald Square store in 1902 and flagship store on Fifth Avenue in 1924. The chain was acquired by Tennessee-based Proffitt's, Inc. in 1998, and Saks, Inc. was acquired by the Canadian-based Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) in 2013.

Oakbrook Center is a shopping center established in 1962 and located near Interstate 88 and Route 83 in Oak Brook, Illinois. It is the second largest shopping center in the Chicago metropolitan area by gross leasable area, only surpassed by Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois. The H. & S. Pogue Company was a Cincinnati, Ohio based department store chain founded by two brothers, Henry and Samuel Pogue. They came from County Cavan, Northern Ireland, to Cincinnati and worked in their uncle's dry goods store. They later were able to buy him out and H. & S. Pogue Dry Goods Company was established in 1863 at 111 West Fifth Street. Brothers Thomas, Joseph, and William Pogue would eventually join the enterprise.

Plaza Insurgentes is an enclosed neighborhood shopping center along Avenida Insurgentes in Colonia Roma, Mexico City. It opened in 1999 on the site of the first Sears Mexico store which had opened in 1947 and was subdivided to add mall stores. When the Sears was built, it was far from the upscale shopping districts at that time, downtown along Avenida Juárez and the department stores just south of the Zócalo.

iShop and Mixup are two retail store chains forming Promotora Musical, S.A. de C.V. : iShop sells electronics and Mixup sells music in stores across Mexico, some of which are joint. iShop specializes in Apple products and is an official Apple Premium reseller. Together they are part of Grupo Sanborns, in turn part of Grupo Carso controlled by billionaire Carlos Slim. Mixup was founded in 1989. iShop Mixup is headed by Patricio Slim Domit, son of Carlos Slim and Head of Grupo Sanborns, and has about 2,000 employees. Forbes rated the company #199 among Mexico's best employers in 2022.
