The DTM Trophy was a sports car racing series sanctioned by ITR e.V. which had been affiliated with the DMSB-FIA since 1984. The series was based in Germany, with rounds across Europe, featuring mass-produced GT4 racing cars since 2020.
DTM Trophy was effectively a support series for Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters for GT cars eligible for E2-SH and E2-SC-class FIA categories.
On 20 October 2019 it was announced that the ITR e.V. sanctioning body would create the GT4-based sports car racing series as the replacement of proposed Formula European Masters which was cancelled due to lack of entries, with plans to debut in 2020 after following the merger of GP3 Series and F3 European Championship to create FIA Formula 3 Championship. On the same date ITR e.V. announced that DTM Trophy would be introduced and thus would be scheduled to debut from 2020 season onwards. [1]
DTM Trophy cars utilized GT4-based mass-produced sports cars starting from the 2020 season.
On 30 December 2019 it was announced that South Korean tyre manufacturer Hankook Tire would be selected as official tyre partner beginning from 2020 until at least 2023 season. [2]
Points were awarded to the top ten classified finishers as follows:

In the case of a tie, DTM Trophy determined the champion based on the most first-place finishes. If the tie persisted, the champion was decided by the most second-place finishes, then the most third-place finishes, and so on, until a champion was determined. This system was also applied to other ties in the rankings at the close of the season or any other time during the season.

The DTM is a sports car racing series sanctioned by ADAC. The series is based in Germany, with rounds elsewhere in Europe. The series currently races a modified version of Group GT3 grand touring cars, replacing the silhouette later Class 1 touring cars of earlier years.
The Red Bull Ring is a motorsport race track in Spielberg, Styria, Austria. The race circuit was founded as Österreichring and hosted the Austrian Grand Prix for 18 consecutive years, from 1970 to 1987. It was later shortened, rebuilt and renamed the A1-Ring, and it hosted the Austrian Grand Prix again from 1997 to 2003.
The Lausitzring is a race track located near Klettwitz in the state of Brandenburg in northeast Germany, near the borders of Poland and the Czech Republic. It was originally named Lausitzring as it is located in the region of Lusatia, known as Lausitz in German, but was renamed EuroSpeedway Lausitz for better international communication from 2000 to 2010. The EuroSpeedway has been in use for motor racing since 2000. Among other series, DTM takes place there annually. It also used to host the Superbike World Championship.
The FIA GT Championship was a sports car racing series organized by the Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) at the behest of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The championship was mostly concentrated in Europe, but throughout the years has visited other continents including Asia and South America. At the end of 2009, the championship was replaced by the FIA GT1 World Championship, which morphed into the FIA GT Series for 2013.

The Norisring is a street circuit in Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany. Originally established as a motorcycle racing venue in 1947 and named in a 1950 competition to win a light motorcycle, the track became known as a sports car racing venue in the 1970s. Since 2000, it has been annually used by the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, the premier Germany-based touring car racing series. The length of the simple track with two hairpin turns and a chicane has been set to 2.300 km (1.429 mi) since 1972, after various lengths were used in its early years.

The Motorsport Arena Oschersleben is a 3.696 km (2.297 mi) long race track with a width of 11–13 m (12–14 yd) and elevation changes of 23 m (75 ft). The circuit is located in Oschersleben, Börde, approximately 30 km (19 mi) from Magdeburg, Germany. Its fairly flat contours create a smooth, fast circuit.
The FIA Formula 3 European Championship was a European Formula Three (F3) auto racing competition, organised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). After one season of the FIA Formula 3 International Trophy, the FIA revived the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. The ten-event season included seven Formula 3 Euro Series rounds, two British Formula Three rounds and DTM-supporting round at Brands Hatch. From 2013, the series started running its own rounds, based upon the defunct Formula 3 Euro Series.

The 2010 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters was the twenty-fourth season of premier German touring car championship and also eleventh season under the moniker of Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) since the series' resumption in 2000. The season began on 25 April at the Hockenheimring, and ended on 28 November at the Shanghai Street Circuit, after eleven rounds held in Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Italy and China. Having finished second in 2008 and third in 2009, HWA Team's Paul di Resta became champion for the first time, having come out on top of a three-way title battle in Shanghai.
The 2011 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season was a multi-event motor racing series largely based in Germany for highly modified touring car racing cars and is one of the most popular sedan car-based motor racing series in the world. The series features professional racing teams and drivers and is heavily supported by car manufacturers Audi and Mercedes-Benz. Each race features 18 V8-powered racing cars built according to the technical regulations of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM). It was the twenty-fifth season of premier German touring car championship and also twelfth season under the moniker of DTM since the series' resumption in 2000. It was the final season running the 4-door saloon-style spec cars, which has been the series' sole car style requirements since 2005. It was also the final season that all DTM cars ran with the sequential manual gearbox shifters before all DTM cars switched to sequential semi-automatic paddle-shifters for the following season.
W Racing Team is a Belgian auto racing team founded in 2009 by engineer and former head of Volkswagen Motorsport René Verbist, racing driver Vincent Vosse, and entrepreneur Yves Weerts. Between 2010 and 2022 the team campaigned Audi R8 LMSs in several international sports car series. In 2010 the team won the Belcar Drivers' and Teams' Championships, while in 2011 they won the Spa 24 Hours. After winning multiple titles in various GT championships, WRT is considered to be one of the best teams worldwide in GT racing. In 2019 and 2020 WRT ran two Audi RS5 Turbo DTMs in the highly competitive DTM championship. In 2021 WRT added a full time LMP2 program, by entering an Oreca 07 in both the FIA World Endurance Championship and European Le Mans Series, and won the LMP2 class of the 2021 24 Hours of Le Mans. From 2023 on WRT switched their partnership in GT racing from Audi to BMW and will run the BMW M4 GT3. The team will also run two factory backed BMW M Hybrid V8s in the FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar category from 2024.
Alex Fontana is a Greek-Swiss racing driver currently racing as a professional driver in the 2023 GT World Challenge Europe for Car Collection Motorsport. He is a freelance driver with an open contract able to race for different teams and different manufacturers at the same time. When he is not racing, he works as a coach and driving instructor in Europe, America, and China, while commentating the Formula 1 Grands Prix for Swiss television with RSI.
The 2016 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters was the thirtieth season of premier German touring car championship and also seventeenth season under the moniker of Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters since the series' resumption in 2000. The season started on 7 May at Hockenheim, and ended on 16 October at the same venue. Marco Wittmann won his 2nd DTM championship after a total of nine events.

The series was run by ITR, the association also organising the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. The championship ran as part of selected DTM race weekends in 2021, commencing in Monza on 19 June and finishing on 3 October at the Hockenheimring.
The 2022 DTM Trophy was the third and final season of the DTM support series for GT cars eligible for E2-SH and E2-SC-class FIA categories. It was the first season where the BOP was made by AVL Racing. The series was run by ITR, the association also organising the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. The championship ran as part of selected DTM race weekends in 2022, commencing at the Lausitzring on 20 May and finishing on 9 October at the Hockenheimring. The series folded following the 2022 season after ADAC acquired the rights of the parent series and decided to continue running the ADAC GT4 Germany as its only GT4-series.
