Synth-pop is a music genre that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. It was prefigured in the 1960s and early 1970s by the use of synthesizers in progressive rock, electronic, art rock, disco, and particularly the Krautrock of bands like Kraftwerk. It arose as a distinct genre in Japan and the United Kingdom in the post-punk era as part of the new wave movement of the late 1970s.

Vila do Corvo is the smallest municipality in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores, constituting the island of Corvo in its entirety. Deborah Nowalski Kader, better known by her stage name Debi Nova, born August 6, 1980, is a Costa Rican singer-songwriter that is widely considered to be the most successful Costa Rican artist in the country's history. Nova first started as a backing vocalist for Gandhi, one of Costa Rica's biggest and most-beloved rock bands of the '90s and '00s. Her international music career began when she became a backing vocalist for Sérgio Mendes and Ricky Martin. Zion & Lennox are a Puerto Rican reggaeton music duo from Carolina, Puerto Rico. In 2004, Zion & Lennox released their first studio album titled Motivando a la Yal under White Lion Records. After their first album, Zion & Lennox decided to start their own label, Baby Records Inc. The duo is made up of Félix Ortiz (Zion) and Gabriel Pizarro (Lennox). Zion & Lennox are considered to be the pioneers of romantic reggaeton.
Diamá is a Swiss singer. She was born in Schlieren, a suburb of Zürich. Her both parents are Italian immigrants. She grew up in Dietikon, which is close to her place of birth. At the age of seven, she began singing in her hometown church choir "Voci Bianche", which she was part of until her teenage days. At home she would listen to soul and R&B tunes, and while singing along she discovered the strength of her own voice. She found inspiration in soul legends such as Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder, Brandy Norwood, and her greatest idol, Italian R&B diva Giorgia. Later, she started to attend karaoke competitions, most of which she was able to win effortlessly.
Idanha-a-Nova is a town and surrounding municipality in the district of Castelo Branco, in east-central Portugal. A border municipality with Spain, the population of the municipality in 2011 was 9,716, in an area of 1416.34 km2, making it one of the largest and least densely populated municipalities in Portugal as well as the first Portuguese municipality by population ageing. King Alfonso II (1211-1223) confirmed its charter in 1219 renaming the village with the current place names (Idanha-a-Nova) to distinguish it from the old Idanha, 18 kilometers away. The municipal holiday is the Monday 15 days after Easter. The incumbent mayor is Armindo Moreira Palma Jacinto, representing the Socialist Party.

Bossa Nova Hotel is the 1983 debut album of rock singer/guitarist Michael Sembello. The album was a continuation of the work that Sembello began with producer Phil Ramone on "Maniac," which became a number one US pop hit after it was featured in the film Flashdance and on its soundtrack album. Bossa Nova Hotel peaked at number 80 on the US album chart and included the soundtrack hit in addition to two more chart entries, "Automatic Man" and "Talk."
"Boom Boom Pow" is a song recorded by American group the Black Eyed Peas for their fifth studio album The E.N.D. (2009). It was written by group members will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo and Fergie, being produced by will.i.am. The song features a vocal sample from the 1990 song "Reach Out" by British house duo Sweet Mercy featuring singer Rowetta. It was released as the lead single from The E.N.D. on February 22, 2009, by Interscope Records.
Caravan Palace is a French electro-swing band based in Paris. The band's influences include Django Reinhardt, Vitalic, Lionel Hampton, and Daft Punk. The band released their debut studio album, Caravan Palace, on the Wagram label in October 2008. The record charted in Switzerland, Belgium, and France, where it reached a peak position of number 11.

"Don't Stop the Party" is a song by American hip hop group the Black Eyed Peas. The song was written by members will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo, and Fergie, along with Joshua Alvarez, and DJ Ammo, and was produced by will.i.am. and DJ Ammo for the group's sixth studio album, The Beginning (2010). The song, described as "a hot club jam," features will.i.am rapping in a thick, Caribbean patois.

Bratislava is a Brazilian rock band formed in São Paulo in 2010. The current line-up consists of Victor Meira, Jonas Andrade (guitar), José Roberto Orlando (bass) and Lucas Felipe Franco (drums). Their second album, Um Pouco Mais de Silêncio, released in a fanzine format, was featured in various 2015 "best of" lists by specialized sites. Newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo considered the band one of the musical bets for 2016.
A Cor do Som is a Brazilian musical group that spun off the backing band that supported Moraes Moreira following his departure from Novos Baianos. Originally this was the name of a side project of Novos Baianos itself which members lived together and experimented with music that blended elements, from Bahia state or samba, rock, frevo, choro and baião. The name of the group was suggested by Caetano Veloso and inspired by a song by Moreira and Luis Galvão.
