Daedong Corporation, also known by the brand name Kioti in North America, is a South Korean agricultural machinery manufacturer founded in 1947 and headquartered in Daegu, South Korea. Its main products include tractors, combine harvesters, all-terrain utility vehicles and engines. [2]
Daedong has a history of innovation and growth, marked by significant milestones in the development of agricultural equipment. Daedong began operations as a metal casting company but soon shifted its focus to agricultural machinery. In 1949, the company produced Korea's first engine, laying the foundation for its future as a machinery manufacturer. [3] This was followed by introducing Korea's first plow in 1962 and the production of Korea's first tractor in 1968.
In 1971, Daedong continued its innovative streak by producing Korea's first combine harvester, a complex piece of machinery that significantly improved agricultural efficiency. Building upon its domestic success, the company entered the U.S. market in 1982, marking a significant step toward international expansion. In 1983, Daedong achieved another milestone by developing and producing multi-cylinder engines using its in-house technology, demonstrating its commitment to innovation and self-sufficiency. By 1985, they exported their first tractors. Kioti USA was formed in 1993. [4] [5]
To bolster its presence in the North American market, Daedong established Kioti USA in 1993. This strategic move was instrumental in the company's regional growth and success, setting the stage for future expansion and solidifying its position in the North American market. [6] [7] The company was formerly known as Daedong Industrial Co., Ltd. and changed its name to Daedong Corporation in March 2021. [8]

A tractor is an engineering vehicle specifically designed to deliver a high tractive effort at slow speeds, for the purposes of hauling a trailer or machinery such as that used in agriculture, mining or construction. Most commonly, the term is used to describe a farm vehicle that provides the power and traction to mechanize agricultural tasks, especially tillage, and now many more. Agricultural implements may be towed behind or mounted on the tractor, and the tractor may also provide a source of power if the implement is mechanised.

A loader is a heavy equipment machine used in construction to move or load materials such as soil, rock, sand, demolition debris, etc. into or onto another type of machinery.
A backhoe is a type of excavating equipment, or excavator, consisting of a digging bucket on the end of a two-part articulated arm. It is typically mounted on the back of a tractor or front loader, the latter forming a "backhoe loader". The section of the arm closest to the vehicle is known as the boom, while the section that carries the bucket is known as the dipper, both terms derived from steam shovels. The boom, which is the long piece of the backhoe arm attached to the tractor through a pivot called the king-post, is located closest to the cab. It allows the arm to pivot left and right, typically through a range of 180 to 200 degrees, and also enables lifting and lowering movements.
Heavy equipment, heavy machinery, earthmovers, construction vehicles, or construction equipment, refers to heavy-duty vehicles specially designed to execute construction tasks, most frequently involving earthwork operations or other large construction tasks. Heavy equipment usually comprises five equipment systems: the implement, traction, structure, power train, and control/information.

Two-wheel tractor or walking tractor are generic terms understood in the US and in parts of Europe to represent a single-axle tractor, which is a tractor with one axle, self-powered and self-propelled, which can pull and power various farm implements such as a trailer, cultivator or harrow, a plough, or various seeders and harvesters. The operator usually walks behind it or rides the implement being towed. Similar terms are mistakenly applied to the household rotary tiller or power tiller; although these may be wheeled and/or self-propelled, they are not tailored for towing implements. A two-wheeled tractor specializes in pulling any of numerous types of implements, whereas rotary tillers specialize in soil tillage with their dedicated digging tools. This article concerns two-wheeled tractors as distinguished from such tillers.

A driverless tractor is an autonomous farm vehicle that delivers a high tractive effort at slow speeds for the purposes of tillage and other agricultural tasks. It is considered driverless because it operates without the presence of a human inside the tractor itself. Like other unmanned ground vehicles, they are programmed to independently observe their position, decide speed, and avoid obstacles such as people, animals, or objects in the field while performing their task. The various driverless tractors are split into full autonomous technology and supervised autonomy. The idea of the driverless tractor appears as early as 1940, but the concept has significantly evolved in the last few years. The tractors use GPS and other wireless technologies to farm land without requiring a driver. They operate simply with the aid of a supervisor monitoring the progress at a control station or with a manned tractor in lead.
