Dag Johan Haugerud (born 30 December 1964) is a Norwegian librarian, novelist, screenwriter and film director. [1]

Career

His novels include Noe med natur (1999), Den som er veldig sterk, må også være veldig snill (2002), Hva jeg betyr (2011) and Enkle atonale stykker for barn (2016). [1]

He has created several short films, including Utukt from 2000 and Trøbbel from 2006. [1]

His first feature film was the 2012 film I Belong , which won Amanda Awards in 2013 for Best Film, Best Script, Best Director and Best Actress (Laila Goody). [1] [2]

In 2014 he directed the medium-length film I'm the One You Want (Det er meg du vil ha  [ no ]). [1] [3]

In 2019 he directed the film Beware of Children (original title Barn), and also wrote the script for the film. The film won a record of nine Amanda Awards in 2020, including best script and best director, as well as the Nordic Council Film Prize. [1] The film also won the Norwegian Film Critics Award (Filmkritikerprisen) for 2020. [4]

His 2020 film The Light from the Chocolate Factory (Lyset fra sjokoladefabrikken) treated relations between girlfriends. [1]

In 2024, he directed Sex , the first instalment in the new "Sex Dreams Love" trilogy, which was selected in the Panorama section at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival. [5] Love , the trilogy's second instalment, was selected to compete for the Golden Lion at the 81st Venice International Film Festival. [6] [7] He was awarded the 2024 Nordic Council Film Prize for the film Sex. [8]

Sex is a 2024 Norwegian romantic drama film written and directed by Dag Johan Haugerud for Viaplay. The film starring Jan Gunnar Røise and Thorbjørn Harr, is the first instalment in the new "Sex Dreams Love" trilogy. It follows two men in heterosexual marriages whose unexpected experiences challenge their perceptions of sexuality, gender and identity.

Love is a 2024 Norwegian drama film directed by Dag Johan Haugerud starring Andrea Bræin Hovig and Tayo Cittadella Jacobsen. It's the second entry in Hagerud's "Sex, Love, Dreams" trilogy, following 2024's Sex.

Dreams (Sex Love) (Norwegian: Drømmer) is a 2024 Norwegian drama film written and directed by Dag Johan Haugerud. After Sex and Love, it is the third part of a trilogy by Haugerud that deals with the complexity of human relationships, sexuality and social norms. The film, starring Ella Øverbye as Johanne and Selome Emnetu as French teacher, depicts Johanne's intimate writings about her crush on her female teacher, which ignite both tension and self-reflection within her family, as her mother and grandmother confront their own unfulfilled dreams and desires.
