Daniel H. D'Autremont (born December 28,1950) is a Canadian provincial politician. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan,representing the constituency of Cannington and its predecessor Souris-Cannington from 1991 to 2020. He served as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2016.
He was born in Redvers,Saskatchewan,the son of Hugh and Violet D'Autremont,and grew up on the family farm about two miles east of Alida. [1] D'Autremont studied engineering at the University of Calgary. He worked in the oil industry for a number of years before taking up farming in the Redvers area in 1977. [1]
D'Autremont was first elected in 1991 as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party,and was one of the eight founding members of the Saskatchewan Party in 1997. [1] With the retirement of Don Toth in 2016,D'Autremont became the longest serving member in the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly.
D'Autremont was elected as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan on December 5,2011,as the first order of business following the November 7,2011 general election. He challenged Don Toth,the Speaker during the Saskatchewan Party's first term. In a secret ballot of the members of the Assembly,D'Autremont defeated Toth. [2]
Following the 2016 general election,D'Autremont again stood for election as Speaker,but was defeated on the second ballot by Corey Tochor. [3]
D'Autremont announced that he would not run for re-election in 2020,but would remain a MLA until then. [4]

William John Patterson was a Liberal politician and the sixth premier of Saskatchewan from 1935 to 1944. He was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan in the 1921 election. He succeeded James G. Gardiner to become the province's first Saskatchewan-born premier.

On December 10, 2007, he was elected Speaker by acclamation. Dan D'Autremont defeated him in the speakership election in the second term of the Wall government (2011–2016).

Mark Docherty is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan in the 2011 election. He represents the electoral district of Regina Coronation Park as a member of the Saskatchewan Party caucus. On March 10, 2018, he was elected Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Following the 2020 general election, Docherty once again stood for election as Speaker, but was defeated on the final ballot by Randy Weekes. He resigned from the legislative assembly effective February 10, 2023.
The 2016 Saskatchewan general election, was held on April 4, 2016, to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. The Lieutenant Governor dissolved the Legislature on March 8, 2016, setting the election date for April 4. The election resulted in the Saskatchewan Party winning its third majority government. This is the first time in 90 years that a party other than the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) or its predecessor, the Saskatchewan Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) has won three consecutive majority governments in Saskatchewan. It is also the first time that a centre-right party has won three consecutive elections in the province.
The 2020 Saskatchewan general election was held on October 26, 2020 to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. This date was set by Saskatchewan's fixed election date law. The writ was dropped on September 29 just in time to hold the election on October 26.
The 2018 Saskatchewan Party leadership election was held on January 27, 2018, due to the announcement on August 10, 2017, by Premier Brad Wall that he would be retiring from politics once his successor was chosen. The winner, Scott Moe, succeeded Wall as Premier of Saskatchewan on February 2, 2018.
