N.E.R.D. was an American rock and hip hop band, formed in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in 1994. The Neptunes were signed by Teddy Riley to Virgin. After producing songs for several artists throughout the late 1990s, the duo formed the band with Shay Haley as a side project band of The Neptunes in 1994. N.E.R.D.'s debut album, In Search Of..., sold 603,000 copies in the United States and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It was also awarded the second annual Shortlist Music Prize. The band's second album, Fly or Die, sold 412,000 copies in the United States, but shipped at least 500,000 units, certifying it Gold.

FF5 is an American Christian rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. Forth is the fourth and final studio album by English alternative rock band the Verve. It was released internationally on 25 August 2008 on EMI and a day later in North America on the On Your Own label. The band reformed in 2007, having broken up for the second time nearly a decade earlier, in 1999. Forth was their first new studio album since Urban Hymns (1997), and their first since A Northern Soul (1995) to feature the band's original line-up without second guitarist and keyboardist Simon Tong. It is also the second album to feature producer Chris Potter, who by this point also served as Ashcroft's solo album producer.

Alkaline Trio formed in 1996 with an initial lineup of Matt Skiba, Rob Doran (bass), and Glenn Porter (drums). This lineup released the band's demo tape and the 1997 single "Sundials" on Chicago record label Johann's Face Records, after which Doran left the band and was replaced by Dan Andriano. The group then signed to Asian Man Records and released their debut EP For Your Lungs Only and album Goddamnit in 1998. A second EP, I Lied My Face Off, followed in 1999 and resulted in their first music video, for the song "Goodbye Forever". In 2000 Asian Man released the band's second album, Maybe I'll Catch Fire, as well as the compilation album Alkaline Trio, collecting most of their previously released early material. Porter then left and was replaced by Mike Felumlee.

Family Force 5's Christmas Pageant is the first and final Christmas album by the Christian crunk rock band Family Force 5. It was released on October 6, 2009. It was announced on August 29 by the band at the Christian music festival En Fuego that they had just finished recording the CD.

"The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" is a song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, released as the first single from their tenth album I'm with You (2011). It was their first single since "Hump de Bump" in 2007, and their first with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. The song was released to radio on July 15, 2011, three days earlier than expected, due to an accidental release. The download was made available on July 18 while the CD single was released four days later.
