Daniel Belardinelli is an American artist associated with outsider art. He is a writer, art dealer, curator and an attorney. [1]
Daniel Belardinelli was born and raised in Manhattan, New York. [2] [3]
Belardinelli experienced communication difficulties as a child and learned to express himself through artistic compositions. [2] [3] By the age of 15, he frequented Studio 54 and Xenon and, as a result, he met and was influenced by Andy Warhol, Larry Rivers, Christopher Makos and Antonio Lopez. [4] He developed various addictions, but was eventually able to subdue them by drawing and painting about them. [2]
Belardinelli booked a ticket on United Airlines Flight 93 for September 11, 2001, a flight that crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Belardinelli changed his plans at the last minute and did not board the flight. [2] [5] [6] As his uncle, William Cashman, died on the flight, he was allowed to listen to the tapes of the flight and later completed a drawing of what the terrorists had announced over the loudspeaker to the passengers. This drawing was included in Jere Longman's book, Among the Heroes. [7] Belardinelli was featured in the A&E documentary I Missed Flight 93 (2006). [8]

Belardinelli uses multiple mediums to paint, with nail polish featuring as a dominant medium of his art since 1985. [2] [10] He draws and paints daily in large 'At-A-Glance' journals which bear witness to his life. [11] [12] He has exhibited at the Outsider Art Fair annually since 1995, and his work has been displayed in the American Visionary Art Museum. [2] [13] In 2001, several of Belardinelli's nail polish paintings were included in the "High On Life – Transcending Addictions" show, which was curated by Tom Paterson at AVAM. He has participated in "Revelations and Reflections of American Self Taught Artists", and has exhibited worldwide, but most extensively in Europe and the Americas. Belardinelli has no formal art training, but is a graduate of City University of New York School of Law. [16] [17] [18] He is an attorney licensed by The State Bar of New Jersey (both State and Federal Courts), the Southern and Eastern Federal District Courts of New York State and The United States Supreme Court in Washington, DC. He was an organizer of the 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization, "The New Jersey Volunteer Lawyers Association," and has been a featured artist in their annual fundraiser. [19] [20] [9]

Kingsland is a railroad station on New Jersey Transit's Main Line. It is located under Ridge Road (Route 17) between New York and Valley Brook Avenues in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, and is one of two stations in Lyndhurst. The station is not staffed, and passengers use ticket vending machines (TVMs) located at street level to purchase tickets. The station is not handicapped-accessible. Originally part of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad's Boonton Branch, the current Kingsland station was built in 1918.

John Laing Leal was an American physician and water treatment expert who, in 1908, was responsible for conceiving and implementing the first disinfection of a U.S. drinking water supply using chlorine. He was one of the principal expert witnesses at two trials which examined the quality of the water supply in Jersey City, New Jersey, and which evaluated the safety and utility of chlorine for production of "pure and wholesome" drinking water. The second trial verdict approved the use of chlorine to disinfect drinking water which led to an explosion of its use in water supplies across the U.S.

The Outsider Art Fair or OAF is an international exhibition that features outsider artists who work in a variety of mediums. It is a biannual fair occurring in New York City and Paris, the former taking place in January and the latter in October. Plans were made for a Basel edition in 2018 to run alongside Art Basel, but has since been postponed until further notice.
