The politics of Tanzania takes place in a framework of a unitary presidential democratic republic,whereby the President of Tanzania is both head of state and head of government,and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament. The party system is dominated by the Chama Cha Mapinduzi. The Judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature.
General elections were held in Tanzania on 14 December 2005. Originally scheduled for 30 October,the elections were postponed due to the death of CHADEMA vice-presidential candidate Jumbe Mohamed Jumbe. The elections were the third since the country returned to multi-party rule in 1992. Incumbent President Benjamin Mkapa stepped down after two consecutive terms in accordance with the constitution. Elections for the Presidency of Zanzibar and its House of Representatives took place on 30 October,as scheduled.
General elections were held in Tanzania on 31 October 2010. The presidential elections were won by the incumbent Jakaya Kikwete of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi party (CCM),who received 63% of the vote,down from 80% in 2005. The parliamentary elections resulted in a victory for the CCM,which won 186 of the 239 elected seats in the National Assembly.
Hamisi Andrea Kigwangalla is a Tanzanian politician for the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party and Member of Parliament for the Nzega constituency since 2010. After 2015,the Nzega constituency was split,and as a result,he took over as a member of parliament for the newly formed Nzega Rural following the 2015 general elections.
The Chama Cha Mapinduzi is the dominant ruling party in Tanzania and the second longest-ruling party in Africa,only after the True Whig Party of Liberia. It was formed in 1977,following the merger of the Tanganyika African National Union (TANU) and the Afro-Shirazi Party (ASP),which were the sole operating parties in mainland Tanzania and the semi-autonomous islands of Zanzibar,respectively.
Hasnain Mohamed Murji is a Tanzanian CCM politician and Member of Parliament for Mtwara Town constituency from 2010 to 2015. He was elected in the 2010 general elections with more than 56% of the popular vote. He had also served the same constituency during the term 2000–2005.

She was then appointed as the District Commissioner for Temeke District in Dar es Salaam Region in July 2021. Hon. Jokate Mwegelo was appointed by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan as the District Commissioner for Korogwe District in Tanga Region in January,2023 . She is a member of Chama Cha Mapinduzi,previously served as Secretary in charge of Public Relations and Mobilization UVCCM - youth wing of Chama Cha Mapinduzi.

Prior to her appointment,Halima Abdallah Bulembo served as a Special Seats Member of Parliament for Kagera Region in Tanzania. She was appointed to her seat in November 2015,making her the youngest female parliamentarian in the 11th parliament of Tanzania and was in office until October,2020.
