Daniel Godfrey Chongolo is a Tanzanian politician and previous Secretary General of Chama Cha Mapinduzi political party in Tanzania,appointed by Samia Suluhu into office in April 30,2021. [1] [2] Before his appointment,he was a civil servant in Kinondoni District as District Commissioner in Dar es Salaam,and also served as a Commissioner in Longido District,Arusha Region. [3] [4] [5]
In 2013,Daniel Chongolo graduated from Open University of Tanzania receiving his bachelor's degree in mass communication;
Before his appointment,Chongolo had served in the party as a Director to a Department of Mass communication under the Department of Ideology and Publicity at CCM party Headquarters in Dodoma. [6] [7]
The politics of Tanzania takes place in a framework of a unitary presidential democratic republic,whereby the President of Tanzania is both head of state and head of government,and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament. The party system is dominated by the Chama Cha Mapinduzi. The Judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature.
General elections were held in Tanzania on 14 December 2005. Originally scheduled for 30 October,the elections were postponed due to the death of CHADEMA vice-presidential candidate Jumbe Mohamed Jumbe. The elections were the third since the country returned to multi-party rule in 1992. Incumbent President Benjamin Mkapa stepped down after two consecutive terms in accordance with the constitution. Elections for the Presidency of Zanzibar and its House of Representatives took place on 30 October,as scheduled.
General elections were held in Tanzania on 31 October 2010. The presidential elections were won by the incumbent Jakaya Kikwete of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi party (CCM),who received 63% of the vote,down from 80% in 2005. The parliamentary elections resulted in a victory for the CCM,which won 186 of the 239 elected seats in the National Assembly.
Hamisi Andrea Kigwangalla is a Tanzanian politician for the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party and Member of Parliament for the Nzega constituency since 2010.
