Daniel Dearing (born January 13, 1990) is a Canadian volleyball athlete competing primarily in the beach discipline. [1]
In November 2021, Dearing came out of a seven-year retirement and teamed up with Sam Schachter with the aim of qualifying for the 2024 Summer Olympics. [2] [3] In the summer of 2022, Dearing and Schachter won silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. [1] At the 2022 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour Finals, Dearing and Schachter won the gold medal. [4]
In June 2024, Dearing qualified to compete for Canada at the 2024 Summer Olympics. [5] [6] [7]
Dearing is an alumnus of North Albion Collegiate Institute in Toronto and York University. [8]

Josh Binstock, nicknamed Binner, is a male two-time Olympian beach volleyball player from Canada. He competed in the 2012 Olympics in London and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. He also competed for Canada in volleyball in Israel in the 2001 Maccabiah Games, the 2005 Maccabiah Games, the 2009 Maccabiah Games, the 2013 Maccabiah Games, and the 2017 Maccabiah Games. In 2014, he and his partner were Canadian national champions, his third national championship.
John Herdman is an English professional football manager who is the head coach of Toronto FC in Major League Soccer. He previously served as the head coach of the Canada men's national soccer team.

Penelope Oleksiak is a Canadian competitive swimmer. Her country's most decorated Olympian, Oleksiak rose to fame during the 2016 Summer Olympics, where she became the first Canadian to win four medals in the same Summer Games, and the country's youngest Olympic champion with her gold medal win in the 100 m freestyle. She was the first athlete born in the 2000s to claim an Olympic gold medal in an individual event. Her success led to her being awarded the 2016 Lou Marsh Trophy as Canada's top athlete, the Bobbie Rosenfeld Award as Canada's top female athlete for 2016, and a member of the Canadian Press team of the year. Five years later she won three additional medals at the 2020 Summer Olympics, breaking the national record for Olympic medals.
Heather Bansley is a Canadian beach volleyball player, playing as a left-side defender. She has been named FIVB Best Defensive Player of the World Tour in 2015, 2016 and 2018.
Samuel Schachter is a Canadian Olympic beach volleyball player. In 2010 he won the FIVB World Junior (U-21) Championship with Garrett May. He and partner Josh Binstock were 2014 Canadian national champions, and represented Canada at the 2015 Pan American Games and the 2016 Summer Olympics. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, he and Binstock earned silver medals. He is competing with partner Daniel Dearing at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Men's tournament.

The volleyball tournaments at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are held from 27 July to 11 August 2024. 24 volleyball teams and 48 beach volleyball teams participate in the tournament. Indoor volleyball competitions occur at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles with the beach volleyball tournament staged at the Eiffel Tower Stadium in Champ de Mars. This is the first time in the history of the Olympic volleyball competition, each team participating in the Games will be entitled to include one non-competing (AP) athlete to replace an athlete for medical reasons. As such, team rosters will increase from 12 to 13 athletes.
Surfing at the 2024 Summer Olympics is taking place 27 July – 5 August 2024 in Teahupoʻo reef pass, Tahiti, French Polynesia, breaking the record for the farthest away a medal competition has been staged from the host city.
