Daniel Herman (born 28 April 1963) is a Czech politician who served as the Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic in Bohuslav Sobotka's Cabinet from 2014 to 2017.
He was born in ČeskéBudějovice. His mother was a cousin of Hana Brady. [1] He began studying theology in Litoměřice in 1984. In 1989,he was ordained as a priest. He then became secretary to Miloslav Vlk. He was spokesman of the Czech Bishops' Conference 1996–2005. In 2007,he applied for laicization. He has since worked as a civil servant for the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Culture. From 12 August 2010 to 10 April 2013,he was the Director of the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes. [2] [3] [4] Since January,2014,he is Czech Minister of Culture in Bohuslav Sobotka's Cabinet. [5]
In March 2016 preceding state visit of the President of PRC Xi Jinping,he initiated a minute of silence for 1959 Tibetan uprising in Chamber of Deputies followed by the diplomatic note from the Chinese Ambassador.
In May 2016 he caused turmoil due to his visit of congress of the Sudetendeutsche Landsmannschaft as first minister in history of the Government of the Czech Republic. [6]
In October 2016,he caused an international incident by officially welcoming the 14th Dalai Lama after the signing of Czech-Chinese business contracts which do not allow that. [7]

Bohuslav Sobotka is a Czech politician and lawyer who served as the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic from January 2014 to December 2017 and Leader of the Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD) from 2010 until his resignation in June 2017. He was Member of the Chamber of Deputies (MP) from 1996 to 2018. Sobotka also served as minister of Finance from 2002 to 2006.

Presidential elections were held in the Czech Republic in January 2013,the country's first direct election for the presidency. No candidate received a majority of the votes in the first round on 11–12 January,so a second round runoff election was held on 25–26 January. Martin Kuba is a Czech politician who served as Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic from November 2011 to July 2013. He was appointed to Petr Nečas's Cabinet on 16 November 2011. Since November 2020 he has been the Governor of the South Bohemian Region.

Andrej Babiš is a Czech politician and businessman who served as the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic from 2017 to 2021. He previously served as the Minister of Finance and deputy Prime Minister from 2014 to 2017 in Bohuslav Sobotka's Cabinet. He has been founding leader of the party ANO 2011 (ANO) since 2012.
Helena Válková is a Czech politician,university professor,and lawyer,specialising in criminal law and criminology. From January 2014 until March 2015 she was the Czech Minister of Justice in the government of Bohuslav Sobotka. She was elected to the Chamber of Deputies for ANO 2011,though she is now non-partisan. On 10 February 2015,Andrej Babiš,the leader of ANO 2011,announced that Válkováwill be replaced in the function by the lawyer Robert Pelikán. Válková's tenure ended on 1 March.

Civic Democratic Party presidential primaries,2012 were held for 2013 Czech presidential election from 30 April to 28. June 2012. They were the first presidential primaries in the Czech Republic. Přemysl Sobotka on the primaries with 61% of votes against 39 votes for the other candidate,Evžen Tošenovský. Primaries suffered for low voter turnout as only 6,203 from 27,000 party members voted.
The Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD) leadership election of 2011 happened as a result of 2010 Czech legislative election which led to the resignation of incumbent leader JiříParoubek. The leadership election was considered a duel between Bohuslav Sobotka and Michal Hašek who were main candidates. They were both endorsed by 7 Regional organisations of party. Other candidates included Vladimír Dryml. 609 Delegates were allowed to vote in the election but only 593.
The Civic Democratic Party (ODS) leadership election of 2014 was a result of party's electoral defeat in 2013 legislative election. Candidates include former Minister of Education and Chairman of Masaryk University Petr Fiala,former Prime Minister candidate Miroslava Němcováand MEP Edvard Kožušník. Fiala was nominated by 12 regional organisations and thus was considered a front-runner. Fiala was also endorsed by acting leader of ODS Martin Kuba. Edvard Kožušník was endorsed by Liberec Region organisation of ODS. Over 500 delegates voted.
