Jacobus Herculaas de la Rey,better known as Koos de la Rey,was a South African military officer who served as a Boer general during the Second Boer War. De la Rey also had a political career and was one of the leading advocates of Boer independence.

Krugersdorp Commando or Kommando was a light infantry regiment from Krugersdorp district of the South African Army. It was active as a part of the South African Army Infantry Formation as well as the South African Territorial Reserve.
Zwartkop is a residential suburb next to Centurion lake in Centurion,South Africa. Historically the suburb was part of the town of Centurion. The suburb is located on a cluster of hills south-west of the Centurion lake. The suburb contains multiple security areas which have been closed off and is monitored by independent security companies. All residential properties in Zwartkop remains free-standing houses with the exception of Zwartkop Extension 7 which has multiple apartments and town-house complexes.

The Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve in eastern Pretoria,Gauteng,South Africa,was part of the farm Garsfontein which was acquired by Jacobus Cornelius Rademeyer in 1859. He had married Cornelia Jacoba Susanna Erasmus on 2 Jul 1837 in George,Eastern Cape. Cornelia Erasmus was a daughter of Daniel Jacobus Elardus Erasmus,who was the first settler on the farm Zwartkop,and sister of Daniel Elardus Erasmus who had settled on the farm Doornkloof. Jacobus Rademeyer operated Garsfontein as a dairy farm and Carel Erasmus purchased the farm from him in 1877 and built a house there;the house was later converted into a chapel which is still in use. In 1903,his son-in-law,Johan Marnewick,built another house on the farm;this house has been converted into a restaurant named Rademeyer's. The reserve is managed by the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality and admission is free. The reserve covers 100 hectares.
The Johannesburg East Reformed Church was a congregation of the Dutch Reformed Church in South Africa (NGK) in the Johannesburg suburb of Doornfontein,just east of downtown. It is also known as the Irene Church after the sobriquet of its second and third churches on 1 Beit Street. Five weeks before its centennial,on June 1,1997,Johannesburg East was absorbed by the Johannesburg Reformed Church (NGK),from whence it had seceded on July 8,1897.

Pieter Daniël de Wet was a Boer general in the Anglo-Boer War (1899–1902) and a younger brother of Boer general and politician Christiaan de Wet. Piet de Wet participated in the Battle of Poplar Grove,the Battle of Sanna's Post for the waterworks there,and defeated the 13th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry at Lindley. In July 1900,he surrendered to the British at Kroonstad,Orange Free State. He became a prominent member of the National Scouts helping the British in the last years of the Boer War.
