Daniel Masson is a self-taught composer, musician, producer and performer. [1] Daniel Masson helped to popularize ethnic deep house chill electronic music with the extraordinary wide-reaching success of the Buddha Bar compilations. [2] [3]

Biography

Daniel's early roots in 70's rock guitar seeded his diverse career from creating video game soundtracks, playing jazz music in Paris, France, and composing electronic music for the restored version of The Impossible Voyage the first silent movie by G. Méliès and a collaboration with Goran Bregovic on the Cannes Film Fest prize winning film Queen Margot. [4]

Masson travels the globe to Bangladesh, Syria, Egypt, Morocco recording musicians, sounds and voices from many cultures and counties to weave together the music of place into adventurous and soothing electronic soundscapes. [5]

In the 2016 film documentary and album Walila, Masson travels to Fés Morocco to merge the ancient with the modern to create a cultural bridge between Western and Arab worlds. [6]

At the invitation of French Institute of Fès: Masson performed at Sacred Music Festival of Fès, Morocco, 2016 edition. [7] His album Walila a new music blending electro beats and sounds with the instruments of Moroccan Traditional Music.

In 2018 Masson released the 3 volumes Trajectories series, inspired by his live mixes experience and continuing the same concept to blend and remix sounds from his library. [8]

In 2019, Masson released Pensées évaporées album, and further in 2020 he released Pacific Dimension E.P. [9]

In 2021, Masson released "Magic Carpet" album following with he released "Dead End" in 2022. [10] [11]

In January 2022, NTS Radio aired an episode dedicated to the music of Daniel Masson. [12]

Onyanko Club was a large all-girl Japanese pop idol group in the 1980s. Some members of the group participated in spin-off groups, such as Nyangilas, Ushiroyubi Sasaregumi and Ushirogami Hikaretai. Many of the latter two groups' songs were used as theme songs of the popular 80s anime series High School! Kimengumi and Tsuide ni Tonchinkan. Tonic Trouble is a 1999 action-adventure game developed by Ubi Soft Montreal and published by Ubi Soft. The game follows janitor Ed, who drops a container of unidentified fluid from his spaceship to Earth, transforming the planet into a mutated version of itself. Drunkard Grögh drinks from the container and is granted powers that lead him to conquer Earth. Assuming the role of Ed, the player is tasked with solving puzzles and defeating enemies to acquire the tools to conquer Grögh and repossess the container to create an antidote.

Amii Ozaki, real name Misuzu Ohara, is a Japanese singer songwriter born on 19 March 1957 in Kita-ku, Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. She has written music such as Oribia o Kikinagara by Anri and Tenshi no Uinku by Seiko Matsuda, as well as many other songs. Ozaki makes irregular appearances on her friend Akira Kamiya's internet radio show Kamiya Akira Hot Beat Party. Her husband is musician Ray Ohara. Her mother is Akemi Ozaki, a maker of popular handbags and purses made from vintage obi.

The Beatniks are an alternative rock duo formed by Yellow Magic Orchestra drummer/singer Yukihiro Takahashi and Keiichi Suzuki. The duo's debut album featured vocals mostly in English, with the rest in French.

The Buddha Bar compilation albums are a widely acclaimed series of compilation albums issued by the Buddha Bar bar, restaurant, and hotel franchise created by restaurateur Raymond Visan and DJ and interior designer Claude Challe in Paris, France. Following its establishment, the Buddha Bar "became a reference among foreign yuppies and wealthy tourists visiting the city", and "has spawned numerous imitators", becoming popular in part because of the DJ's choice of eclectic, avant-garde music. It became known internationally for issuing popular compilations of lounge, chill-out music and world music, also under the Buddha Bar brand, released by George V Records. Buddha Bar began issuing compilations in 1999, and has since "made a name for itself with its Zen lounge music CDs and remains a hit – especially with tourists".
