The Communist Party of Chile is a communist party in Chile. It was founded in 1912 as the Socialist Workers' Party and adopted its current name in 1922. The party established a youth wing,the Communist Youth of Chile,in 1932.
Gabriel Salazar Vergara is a far-left Chilean historian. He is known in his country for his study of social history and interpretations of social movements,particularly the recent student protests of 2006 and 2011–12.
The 2011–2013 Chilean protests –known as the Chilean Winter or the Chilean Education Conflict –were a series of student-led protests across Chile,demanding a new framework for education in the country,including more direct state participation in secondary education and an end to the existence of profit in higher education. The Communist Youth of Chile is the youth wing of the Communist Party of Chile. It was founded on September 5,1932,and it incorporates young communist activists between the ages of 14 and 28. The JJ.CC has political representation at the local and national level and its members have played a prominent role in the student organizations in Chile. The youth wing of the communist party currently has 5,300 members.
Karol Aída Cariola Oliva is a Chilean politician,and former president of the Federación de Estudiantes de la Universidad de Concepción for 2010. She was elected General Secretary of the Juventudes Comunistas de Chile,abbr. JJ.CC.,at the organizations XIII Congress held in October 2011. Cariola is the second woman to hold this post in the Communist Youth of Chile after the late communist leader Gladys Marin (1941–2005).

Camilo Igor Ballesteros Briones is a Chilean physical education undergraduate student and member of the Chilean Communist Youth. He was the president of the University of Santiago de Chile Student Federation (Feusach) in 2010-2011 and became of the main spokespersons of the Confederation of Chilean Students (Confech) during the movement for better access to quality education.
Kenneth Giorgio Jackson Drago is a Chilean politician and engineer who was Chile's Minister of Social Development from 6 September 2022 until 11 August 2023. He previously held the position of Ministry General Secretariat of the Presidency between March and September 2022. He is the founder and first congressman of the Democratic Revolution political party,achieving the highest personal vote in the 2017 elections to the lower chamber. He was one of the leaders of the student protests of 2011 and collaborated in the creation of the Chilean Broad Front and the presidential candidacy of Beatriz Sánchez.
General elections were held in Chile on 19 November 2017 to elect the president,all 155 members of the Chamber of Deputies,23 of the 43 members of the Senate and 278 members of regional boards. All elected members would serve a four-year term,aside from the senators would serve for eight years.

The Broad Front was a Chilean political coalition founded in early 2017,composed of left-wing parties and movements. Its first electoral contest was the 2017 Chilean general election,where their presidential candidate Beatriz Sánchez came third with 20% of the vote in the first round of election. The Broad Front also expanded their electoral representation to 20 deputies,1 senator and 21 out of 278 Regional Councillors,thus consolidating the movement as the 'third force' in Chilean politics.
General elections were held in Chile on 21 November 2021,including presidential,parliamentary and regional elections. Voters went to the polls to elect the President of the Republic to serve a four-year term,27 of 50 members of the Senate to serve an eight-year term in the National Congress,all 155 members of the Chamber of Deputies to serve a four-year term in the National Congress,and all 302 members of the regional boards to serve a three-year term. Following an electoral reform in 2015,the Senate increased its membership from 38 to 43 in 2017 and grew to its full size of 50 seats after this election.
Primera Línea is the name for a loose collective of protesters dedicated to physically confronting Chilean riot police,that is,through acts of civil disobedience,in the context of the 2019–2022 Chilean protests. In the words of a member "it's about contesting [state] power". The Primera Línea is made up of an assortment of individual citizens and grassroots organizations called "clans",lacking central authority. A wide range of sympathetic organizations support Primera Línea providing them with aid,food and legal advice. Members are of diverse backgrounds,including laborers,immigrants,university students and sports fans. In addition,16 hooded minors identified as part of this strike force have been detained. They have subsequently been placed at the disposal of the National Service for Minors (Sename).

General elections are expected to be held in Chile in 2025 in line with the constitutional requirement for elections to be held every four years to elect members of the National Congress and the president. Incumbent president Gabriel Boric is ineligible to seek a second consecutive term according to the 1980 constitution.
